Came to this hotel with a group and had some great holiday experiences, as vegetarian spoke to Pedro Head of kitchen. He was amazing and very friendly, everyday meal he would ask what we would like and bring it to our table and plan for next day to. We also enjoyed the desserts which were also prepared for us, our agent made a mistake with giving Gold cards to only 1 family instead of three, Kids really enjoyed it. We made full use of Bikes which are great for sight seeing and going to sister hotel, Great facilities to use pool and snacks, drinks and even showers, the manager was very helpful at Calleta Palace and made us feel welcome. I would recommend this hotel and you do have a great holiday, evening entertainment was ok. the beach is shingle so would advise to wear swim shoes.

Room Tip: balcony rooms are great overlooking the pool and great views

Having just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and read the slating reviews about this hotel im shocked!!!....what do you expect from this hotel?
The reception staff speak amazing english......better than your catalan!!!
The rooms/reception/resturants/pool area are clean at all times....everyday it was spotless!!!
Yes the pool area was full of spanish/catalan people.....and no they didn't have jeremy kyle on itv2 for you to watch....but we managed!!!!
The bar staff where moody...but hey i was on holiday so i wasnt that bothered. The resturant staff where amazing so polite friendley and professional.
We also used there sister hotel...and sorry to uset you but it was full of french people not an english volice to be heard so dissapointing....NOT
This sister hotel was within walking distance along a beautiful clean beach...here you can use the sunbeds/pool/and bar you can book a meal there in advance which was really nice.
The down side was the entertainment and im being serious here was TERRIBLE....not even so bad it was good...it was just bad!!!!....a disney show(for adults)..a 'carinval show' whch just involved the dancers doing the same dance routine in different costumes from around the world!!!
But too be honest if you booK your holiday last minute for such a cheap price did you really expect a west end show?
Yes i agree that this hotel is not maybe 4* but i think some of the reviews are just mean!!!!
People need to chill out...you could pay the same at butlins for a week and not have half the fun /service!!!!
I would recomend this to a friend for all the reasons the reviews below have slagged this hotel off.....no english people...no red lion bar...clean rooms....no english tv...thats what i call a holiday!!!!! adios.....thats spanish/catalan for goodbye for all of you who where really angry no one spoke english in spain....unbeliveable!!!!!

Room Tip: If you can ask for a room with a balcony as they are much bigger and more to look at....at nght!!!!

Arrived at this 'hotel' 9th July and was mortified!
When you walk in you are met by rude staff who barely speak any English!
Because we were an hour earlier than the allowed booking time we were basically told to go away!
Went into the snack room-food was absolutely vile!
Had a look around the pool area which was filthy!
Went into the 'town' for half an hour then we were given the key for the room by another member of staff who spoke NO English at all!
Got to the room-well,I cried!
I've got 2 young children and under no circumstances could I let them sleep in that room! After ringing round for god knows how many hours we were finally booked into another hotel which the lady said 'was no better than ours'-trust me,it was!
Platja park-4 star-I don't think so-1 star-and im being generous!
The other hotel-3 star-yes,it was!

We booked how holiday with asda holidays thought we would book a bargain cost of £350 each . How wrong we was no customer service complained on arrival before we even unpacked. Told by asda we could go to another hotel for extra £370 per person . Could not afford to so was left stranded in this dump .

I will keep it short and will post photos.

On arrival removed bed sheet to find cockroach
Was later told by hotel it was a flying insect that must of flown in
Wasn't much of a flyer as knocked to floor then he made a run for it to the screams of my wife.

Toilet was covered in stall urine
Maid came to clean it 1.30 hours later.

Do not expect to get a drink at the bar as the line goes into pool area and if you expect polite bar service forget it .

One bar man was questioned by police after a complaint by guest.

There was blood by the poolside for two days after being reported.

Do not expect to get any compensation for terrible stay they called me a liar even with photos.

Asda are no better even though they supplied holiday they said take it up with hotel.

All I got from hotel was more grief calling me liar and not even a sorry

So I would call it a waste of money and a real disappointment

Room Tip: Try another hotel

I arrived at this hotel at midnight after quite a hectic day of travelling and a nightmare of airport transfers (...from Barcelona, not Girona) and the first person to greet us (or not, really) was a miserable bloke on reception. Paired with a slightly less moody lass, managed to book in and then given a plastic scan card for the all inclusive drinks etc, which they took a little mug shot for and after a very long day wasn't really a welcome surprise, but still had a titter looking back at it.
I personally think the food was delicious even though it was a 'generic' type of buffet, I kept going back for more and there was a lot of choice. I finally figured that you have to queue for your drinks during meal times and show the scan card (with horrific picture) and these drinks meant business- asking for red wine basically meant a whole bottle (which got the better of me one particular lunchtime because I refuse to waste it and got rather inebriated within that half hour...)
The rooms were quite lovely to be fair and view overlooking the pool, which we didn't have to even ask for. The hotel is surrounded by some grassy messy empty land but the beach is a five minute walk and there is a cute little fair with some rides and amusements around the corner.
The hotel pool area is a tad cramped- and as always, quite a lot of people saving the beds with their towel though they're blatently not using them for hours (makes me want to chuck them in the pool)..
I would recommend this hotel if you're flying to Girona (Barcelona is hours away (over 70 miles and the other side of mountains)) and have transfers lined up ready. If you stay, take a walk through the little mountain trails along the beach, there are some beautiful little coves and beaches to the left of the beach.
I'd stay at this hotel again if it didn't give me a nervous breakdown losing the transfers the first time around. SARFA BUS was a lifesaver on this occasion. It turned out to be a nice little trip.
I've seen it advertised as a three and four star, still not sure which it is but it was very clean :)

Room Tip: Just be sure to ask for a pool view or you might end up with the nasty derelict dry grassy area

Four of us stayed at the hotel in June def not 4 star but not bad for the price def a spanish hotel only 2 other brits there we werent told on arrival what the procedure was would have been much easier if explained how to use the bar being aI guests.First couple of days in restaurant we were served with drinks thinking that was the norm until on the 3rd day an unhelpful member of staff pointed at the bar in the corner. Not the friendliest of staff with the exception of two young girls one the front desk and the other on the bar who were very helpful. The views from the sister hotel on the beach were lovely but the food wasent as good as the platja park. Lovely resort

Room Tip: If you want a reasonably priced holiday its good value but quite noisy
