Description: There are places that take us back to our childhood: summer evenings, picnics by the spring, your first bike... La Font Picant is one of those places. An antique restaurant in an old railway station, a meeting point for the people of Sant Feliu, Santa Cristina... A beautiful little corner with plenty of heart. With this simplicity of form we offer a selection of meats, grilled or spit-roasted over a wood fire. We use only 100% natural products, cooked on charcoal from les Gavarres, obtained by natural means. We have chosen to pursue a policy of respect for the environment and local sustainability.

This restaurant used to be a favourite with passing cyclists, sales reps and tourists. At 11.95 euros per head the Menu of the Day was cheap and cheerful. Service and atmosphere were great. Sadly its recently changed hands, gone are the tables where you could lunch outside or inside by the window to enjoy the viewing the passers by. Now its been given a make over and the daily menu price has risen to 18 euros. For this you get 3 courses, water and a glass of wine (yes only one glass), tax included. Coffee is extra, taking lunch for 2 to just shy of 40 euros.
There were 3 choices for each course. Before the food arrived we were bombarded with bread and olives. Water came in a large jug with ice and flowers in it; very pretty. For the first course I chose grilled vegetables which were tasty, my partner had gaspacho, good but with only greasy croutons and a bit of chopped onion to accompany it (there should be chopped peppers and cucumber as well). Then he had a steak which was tough and I had a rice dish which was over cooked and pretty tasteless with some unidentifiable meat in it. My dessert was tart tatin which had soggy pastry and my partner had crema catalana which had a good crust but was grainy and had no flavour. Surely it doesn't take much to add the citrus rinds and cinnamon which are an integral part of this dish?
It was hot today but the air conditioning was not turned on and all the doors to the outside terrace were open.
I'm not sure who this restaurant is aimed at now. There is a lot of good competition in the area.
For almost the same price (19.50) you can have the set menu just down the road at Les Panolles. There are more menu choices there & the food is tastier.
Glad we tried Font Picant under its new ownership but we won't be going back.

Fresh decorations, attention to detail, lovely food - not surprising, by the very capable lady from La Taverna del Mar in Sagaro, (after being almost 'evicted') has proved her capabilities, supported by her very attentive, professional staff.
Lovely outside area with mountain views, will most definitely be on our 'let's go back for a lovely meal' list !
Soon also to open her new venture at the old Marina in Sant Feliu de Guixols in a couple of weeks - cannot wait to sample - ''great expectations'' are held !!

Font Picant is located in a former railway station next to what is now a cycle path. The food is of great quality, most vegetables from their own garden. Even something fairly mundane as calamares a la romana is special and better than anywhere else. The staff is most welcoming and helpful.

This is our favourite local restaurant when we fancy lunch out but don't want to spend a fortune. The menu del dia is simple but delicious the service is excellent. Very popular with locals. Free Wi-fi so a favourite haunt of passing sales reps, especially in winter. Also attracts lots of passing cyclists. Good for families - spanish kids are very well behaved in restaurants.
