The Cabriolle in Bulle, Switzerland is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the unique Goat Cheese Fondue and the Roast Beef dinner is truly fantastic. The service is great. I miss Danny who founded the restaurant and created this incredible fondue, it is light and easily digestible. The service is fantastic and the ambiance is very unique from the Video playing in the window frame on the wall of the Swiss Farmers working in the mountains, to the old cheese making table that lager parties can sit at. It is always great to finish the meal with the Tarte Tatin and a Swiss Digestive like Abricotine. The prices are very reasonable and the new owners have continued in the tradition of Danny, who was a great and generous man who died too soon. If you have a chance to visit Bulle, make this a stop you will not forget.

It use to have a friendly welcoming and authentic regional food but not anymore.
Food was served in a "cafeteria style" and no salad or whatsoever with your course..

Casual setting with lots of wood and equipped with some farmers tools as decoration it provides an interesting setting to sample fondues, dried meat and other specialities of the region. Gruyere Cheese is one of the best and importantly best known cheeses globally. Make no mistake the people from the region here know food!

I encourage travelers on their way to Gruyere to stop in Bulle, perhaps eat here instead of Gruyere... It's less touristy and this brings mainly benefits. The town is truly lovely and it's a shame that I drove by on the highway for the past 40 years without ever stoping.

La cabriolle is then a good choice, right in the middle of town.

* Food was amazing, we had a succulent beef steak which was accompanied by yummy veggies.
* Great environment, very cozy and much larger than it appears from outside (there are 2 floors).
(could use some ventilation at times though)

-
* Not sure if he was a part-timer, but he constantly had a frown on his face, wasn't really attentive, forgot to serve us the water.
* Price range is around 30-60CHF per person, so someone needs to change the description above!

After spending lots of time looking for a special restaurant where we could celebrate my husband's birthday, I decided to try La Cabriolle in Bulle. From the moment we walked thru the door, the evening was a great success. The resturant has lots of atmosphere and is much larger than it appears from the outside. We started with glasses of the special house wine flavored with a hint of basil and a mixed meat platter. We followed this with a Fondue Vacherin, my husband's favorite kind of fondue. My husband punctuated each bite with lots of "mmm, this is delicious". And finally, since we were celebrating, we decided to have dessert, a uniquely delicious creme brulee!

We're already looking forward to our next visit to La Cabriolle to try their speciality, goat cheese fondue. Even though we liked our table on the second floor, I'm going to try to reserve a table on the ground floor because the atmosphere is a little bit more cozy.
