This was our first time using this property on Ameland. When booking on booking.com (You can only book via Online travel agents in this hotel) I requested a room with a terrace. I received a friendly email from the hotel to confirm this which I appreciated. Upon arrival the lady at the front desk was quite rude to the lady who was checked in, I found this a bit uncomfortable to see. When we were checking in she said that our room would only be ready at 3pm. She had 5 other rooms available but not ours. I felt this was poor already. Coming back at 3pm we received the key to our room. We were pleasantly surprised by entering the room. It has been nicely refurbished and the Jura coffee maker is a big big plus. Also the minibar is of very decent size. However then we noticed the extreme noise due to very poor isolation. We could hear other people checking in and reception staff answering phone calls. Also when people would use the stairs our furniture was shaking. I immediately went to the desk to express my concern. The lady told me sorry but we are full so we cannot move you. I then asked for the manager who basically said the same. At night indeed it became very noisy when intoxicated people came back to the hotel. At night indeed it became very noisy when intoxicated people came back to the hotel. We could not sleep till around 3am and have called the emergency number of the hotel to send someone to calm people down and to create silence.

When checking out I once more shared how disappointed I was with my stay. The lady told me it was out of their control that it was so noisy. As a compensation I received a voucher for 25 euros to use for a next visit to this hotel. Obviously we will never use this and we left disappointed.

I would really recommend to avoid using this hotel as the staff and paper thin walls just make it unpleasant.More
