This was our second stay at this amazing hotel and we will be repeating the experience again as soon as we can. This hotel is very special, not only for its colonial splendor, and scenic setting. The staff epitomize old world charm, the service is exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble. Having dined at two Michelin Star restaurants in the past month, I can safely say that the food at Kasteel Engelenburg was comparable with these. The location offers a wide range of activities cultural and sporting, being a short drive from Het Loo palace and having its own golf course. My companion and I hired bicycles from the hotel and spent a day exploring the local area.

Many thanks for your great review. It is a great pleasure to read your experience and share this with our staff. I am so glad your second stay has been just as good as your first visit to Kasteel Engelenburg. It will be a honor to welcome you in the future again. Maybe during summer time when the estate is at its best?

Excellent & oh so nice people in beautifull hotel. Weekend out with mother (just 85) & my two sisters, we felt like the ladies of a castle, Enjoyed everything: the service, food & luxury rooms. every moment. For me it was like coming home as I had spent some time during a masters there some years ago. An unforgettable weekend with our mother! We will cherish the memory.

Room Tip: choose the room looking out over the forest

We were part of a group which had booked the hotel exclusively. We were given room 315 which is a two room suite, with outside jacuzzi, a huge bathroom with double showers, a large bedroom with beautiful views and the unbelievable organgerie: glass walled, heated stone floor, very nice lighting and ambience. The hotel, an old castle with very nice side buildings, is situated in a charming park. It is quite and romantic. Our function was in the old castle. The service was impeccable, the food great (with the desert being served in the wine cellar). This is really a perfect place, certainly for groups like us (60 people), but also for romantic weekends or midweeks.

Room Tip: Room 315 is unbelievable!

Outstanding location amid the woodlands and surrounded by a quiet 9-holes golfcourse. Lovely rooms in the old coach houses. rooms well turned out, ours had a south african/safari theme (absolutely nothing tacky). The current owners (and previous for that matter) have a strong SA-link which is thankfully reflected in the wines and wine cellar. In the evening we took a brief walk with a guide to the old Ice-room which now houses dormant bats in their winter sleep. afterwards walked the grounds. the lit-up main house and the mist made a very pretty picture. The lounges still reflect the period, nice open fire leather chairs and a good glass of wine.
Dinner was delicious with accompanying wines, lovely. Breakfast in the orangerie was great too with a nice view over the lake and grounds. Check-out came all too quickly and we'll have to return in the spring/summer to sample the other delights if this 'old world' gem.

A classic luxury experience. Stayed for 2 days in an Orangerie Suite. Yes, your suite is in the former Orangerie with the 25 foot ceilings and palms. Classic elegance throughout from the dining room to the public areas. Food is star quality, well priced, perfectly executed. Wines are heavy to South Africa and the sommelier knows his wines and makes recommendations that match the meals. Prices are reasonable across the board. The Scotch bar is something to try. The man who runs the bar is a teacher, thorough knowledge of Scotch and helps you explore. The owner was on-site the entire time we were at the main house. A very special place. Lots to do in the area - try the smaller towns

Firstly, i have to say that we got a groupon deal for the stay. Two nights for two incl breakfast and six course dinner on the first night and all of this for 260 eur. A real steal!

We stayed in room 404 which is on the ground floor facing the yard. The room has high ceilings so at first sight it has a bit cold feeling. But it was large with very nice big bathroom with both shower and a bath tub. Very comfy soft beds. Free wifi in all the rooms and tea/coffee facilities with very nice bisquits and fresh fruit every day. My recommendation would be to aim for a room facing the garden where it is quieter and you also have seating outside.

The dinner we had was seriously impressive. Beautifully presented with great flavors - real high cousine. But what must be mentioned is the service that was just amazing. Friendly, attentive and personal but not too much that it would bother you. One of the waiters even remembered what we drink for breakfast incl the type of tea! I believe the 5 course dinner cost 75 eur which is good value for what you are getting. The drinks are not cheap and the wine has a healthy mark up, but they have to earn the money somewhere i guess.

The breakfast is small but has all the things one would need incl selection of fresh juices and fresh fruits.

The nine holes golf course costs 32 eur and is pleasant to play.

Overall great experience and we would love to come back.
