So pleased we decided to come to Pentillie. We had a really beautiful, spacious and luxurious room, in what is a very grand country house, set in grounds and gardens you are free to explore and enjoy, with breathtaking views over the Tamar. It is the owners and staff which really make this place exceptional though, with warm welcomes, a wonderful freshly cooked delicious breakfast and so many small touches that make it really special.

Wonderfully warm and friendly staff, beautiful and welcoming rooms, delicious breakfast, relaxing and calming grounds - what a 24 hours! Wish we could have stayed longer; the stress melted away as we drove up the drive. Everything has been thought of and so stylishly carried out from home-made biscuits in the rooms to jugs and vases of fresh garden flowers everywhere. They deserve tremendous success with this venture and am sure they will get it

Room Tip: If you can stretch to a superior room then do - you won't be disappointed

Thank you for taking the time to review your break at Pentillie Castle. Sarah will be delighted to hear that you liked her flower posies (she sources as much of the flowers and foliage as possible from our gardens - no shortage at this time of the year!), and Roger who makes our shortbread.

We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Best wishes

Having seen Pentillie Castle on Country House Rescue we were not at all sure what to expect when we visited recently however we were completely blown away by every aspect of this perfect hotel. We had the warmest welcome from Sarah and, as we had arrived before any other guests, we were able to have a quick look at all the rooms. This means that we are able to assure everyone that every room is exquisitely and tastefully decorated with the perfect balance of modern convenience and country house style. Thank goodness the opinions of Ruth Watson were ignored in this regard! The attention to detail exceeds any other place we have ever stayed e.g. the hairdryer labeled with the location of power outlet adjacent to a mirror - brilliant and the entire establishment sparkled with cleanliness. There are stunning views from every window and we loved having a long walk around the beautiful grounds accompanied by the dogs.
At Sarah's suggestion, when we asked for a local pub recommendation, we had dinner at the 'Rod and Line' which is a not to be missed experience. Enormous servings of amazingly good food and an absolutely unique atmosphere. The Pentillie breakfast was delicious with lots of options to choose from and beautifully served in the lovely dining room.Having stayed at different hotels around Cornwall we thought Pentillie was exceptional value for money. We were sad that we could only stay for one night as there was a wedding the next day but we will return on our next trip to the UK and will definitely make sure that we can stay for longer. Truthfully we felt we could just move in and stay forever!

Thank you for taking the time to review your break at Pentillie Castle. We're glad that you liked Sarah's choice of style (despite Ruth Watson's objections!). We like to think that it's in keeping with the Castle's quirky character, combined with a fresh, modern feel.

The Rod and Line is an amazing pub - we hope that you tried their delicious steaks and seafood!

We very much look forward to seeing you both again in the meantime.

Best wishes

What an amazing hotel.
In a secluded part of the Tamar valley this exceptional hotel provided a truly romantic getaway.
It's an impressive building full of character and history. The interior is gorgeous and I could not fault our room (Parker).
Lovely grounds and walks with quirky tales to keep you enchanted.
Only sampled the breakfast which was spot on.
A magical place.
Top end comfort with a down to earth feel.
You won't be disappointed.

We really lucked out when we stumbled across this amazing property. Booked only the week before while we were trotting around France, we were thrilled with our stay here.
Our greeting was warm and we were upgraded to a first floor room. Do ask to see the DVD made of the renovation of the property and ask lots of questions about it's history - I won't spoil the fun by divulging all it's secrets, but suffice to say I can't recall enjoying hearing about the 'story' of the hotel anywhere else.
We enjoyed a lovely rambling walk around the estate accompanied by the owner's dogs and inspected the mausoleum (again, ask about the wacky history!!!!)
There are several super cute pubs for evening meals or you can 'eat in' and use the kitchen yourself if you prefer.
The rooms are beautifully furnished to a high standard and you really feel part of the history.
I count this as one of the best 'finds' and would unreservedly recommend it to everyone
(apparently also a very fine wedding location).

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your break at Pentillie Castle. We are delighted with your comments and feedback. The Country House Rescue DVD does give you a good insight into the 'blood, sweat and tears' that went into restoring the Castle - feedback such as yours really does make it worthwhile!

We look forward to welcoming you back again in the not too distant future.

We stayed at Pentillie Castle at the end of April with a party of friends. We stayed in the Dewhurst Suite which was excellent with a four poster bed, lounge and lovely bathroom with wonderful views over the river. The castle and staff created a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There are several interesting walks in the grounds and the castle was well situated to visit gardens and historic properties in the area. All in all a very relaxing break.

Room Tip: Dewhurst was a lovely big room with a lounge and large bathroom with views over the terrace and the...

We have stayed before at Pentillie and were so impressed that we arranged a small group of colleagues to all go and stay together with us for a three day break. We filled the whole house so had almost exclusive hire. It was superlative! Again I was blown away by the unrivalled views of treetops and river as we arrived. The gardens are romantic, wild and gorgeous. Nothing had changed. Just as good as before and how often can you say that? Delicious informal suppers from Andrea and Sally, wonderful care and attention from Dean and the family who own Pentillie go that extra mile to ensure everything is how you would hope. And as for our last evening and the Dinner in the beautiful candle -lit Dining-room...well what more can I say. We were also celebrating our twentieth wedding anniversary and it has given us some lovely memories to cherish.

Room Tip: All are good
