“Friendly staff, peaceful atmosphere and enjoyable moments!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

This hotel has an historic atmosphere about it. Some of the foundations of the hotel are clearly from another era. The receptionists were so very friendly and helpful. I only speak English and German but the Dutch people generally speak a various amount of languages – which could put some of us to shame I feel!
My room number 6 had many antic-looking fittings and furniture, and a coffee machine with coffee pads, sugar and so on. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a shower and separate bathtub, though no place to hang up the towels. In order to get to the bathroom and bed, I needed to climb some stairs but, I felt this room was very much to my liking. And it was very clean!
The only traffic I heard during my 2-night stay was from fellow guests who had just arrived or were leaving. A kilometre away from the hotel is a field, in which were hundreds of sheep. One morning I heard a woodpecker and watched ducks fly; saw a few people walking their dogs. This hotel and its surrounding area is a lovely and peaceful place to be after a hard-day´s work.
The bar and restaurant are fine, though the menu had a limited chose of food. Unlike in Germany, where a large glass of “Bier” used to take 7 minutes to pour, the hotel bar staff serves beer within 1, 5 minutes, and still tastes good!
The food was okay but I thought the price was a little too high. But! If a traveler´s priority after a long day is peace and quiet – plus the friendliness, this hotel is the place to be!
The reception is roughly a 2 minute walk from where the 45 rooms are. My tip; When you get out of your car (vehicle) don´t take your luggage with you because, once you register and receive your electronic card for your room, you have to walk past the same car park again, with your luggage in order to get to your room. Leave your luggage in your vehicle.
Some work colleagues and I were booked into this hotel in Holland, bordering Möchengladbach, because there was an exhibition taking place in the capital city of Nordrhein Westphalia, Düsseldorf. Every other hotel within a long radius near Düsseldorf was fully booked. The most positive aspect about all these hotels being fully booked near and around Düsseldorf was, I experienced and enjoyed some really friendly, helpful and chatty Dutch hotel staff. My second tip to any traveler is this one. Book a room and simply enjoy the moment!

Room Tip: Please see my feedback. I have given 2 tips for fellow travelers.

We had lovely time staying in this hotel.
The rooms are lovely, with nice views. I loved the velvet chesterfield couches in our hotel room!
We also had the high tea and breakfast in the restaurant.
Both were lovely with very attentive waiters.

Also, the option to use the pool, sauna and jacuzzi in the neighbouring hotel Vlodorp was very nice.

I'd love to stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

Room Tip: Any room is good.

The retorated castle houses the reception and restaurant. The newly build castletower has af few very well equipped rooms, well decorated and with lovely views! Tip: try dining in the restaurant and with nice weather on the terrace near the water.

We stayed here for the second time and just as the first time we were very happy with the hotel and all it offers.
We had dinner in the the restaurant once and the price -quality was just ok.
The rooms are very nice with a terras, a sitting area and a good bedroom.
The breakfat is very good. Staff is always willing to help.
Free wifi in the hotel and your room but the seep in the room was a bit low.

Room Tip: We were in the rooms of a seperate building, so not in the castle bus just outside. We enjoyed the...

We have eaten here a few times now. The restaurant overlooking the castle's own moat is breathtakingly beautiful. I can see why this is a popular wedding venue because it is charming ... if you can say that about a castle! :-)

The bar opens up to a lovely courtyard which is relaxing to sit in the early evening sun.

The service is attentive without being cloying, which is nice.

We live close by so have not stayed but we have looked at several rooms, for friends to stay, and they look very nice.

I didn't stay at this hotel, but spent a very convivial evening dining here. The food was excellent and the attention to detail commendable. Staff were very attentive and helpful - they couldn't do enough for us. Pleasant setting, good atmosphere. I would certainly consider staying here on a future visit.

Stayed here for a business trip in Herkenbosch and had a room in the annex. The main building with restaurant and lounge was very pleasant and quality of services and food were excellent. The room itself was spacious and the WiFi (essential during a business trip) worked without problems and was included in the prize. I will definitely use the same hotel when visiting this area again.
