We visited the charming little town of Monnickendam on one of the coldest, wettest days in May I can ever remember. It was such a shame we didn't get to see more of the place, but the weather just didn't lend itself to exploring.
By the time we'd walked from the car park by the church into the town centre, we just wanted to head somewhere warm and welcoming for a hot drink and some lunch, and seeing the board outside with lunchtime specials we were tempted in to the de Waegh.
From the warm welcome to the gorgeous hot chocolate, and beyond to our choice of fish dishes for lunch, we were delighted by the friendly and efficient service, and the quality of the food at the de Waegh.
We fully intend to return for another visit in (hopefully) better weather. Highly recommended.
