We had to find overnight accommodation in Holland unexpectedly due to missing an evening ferry.
The Marion was able to provide comfortable rooms at short notice, the staff were very helpful and also provided us with contact details for the ferry company the next morning.
The hotel has an outside terrace for meals overlooking the coast path, where we had an excellent breakfast.
They also provided detailed maps of the oostvoorne dunes, so we had a very pleasant day walking near the coast, before catching the evening ferry to Hull.

Room Tip: Rooms facing north will be cooler in summer

This hotel is a real dichotomy which makes it difficult to have a strong opinion, one way or the other.

This is a non-chain hotel and tries very hard to offer a good service at a reasonable rate, and for the most, it succeeds. This review is based on their Superior Twin Room, and a two-night stay.

Abundant on-site parking and tea and coffee in room are welcome, and the room was spacious and simply furnished. Bathroom (shower, no bath) and separate toilet are clean and recently refurbished. Bar was good and restaurant was excellent. Good breakfast, covering most options, both hot and cold.

On the negative, location is a little odd, on the outskirts of the pretty costal village of Oostvoorne. Driving through its cobbled streets, especially late at night, I though I had to be in the wrong place, despite what the sat-nav was telling me. Internet connectivity is very poor and if you do get connected, download is snail-slow, which might be fine if you’re on holiday, but for business users or your teenage kids, all a bit of a nightmare. Building enhancements/banging in the morning meant sleeping late wasn’t going to happen, and the swimming pool was not available. And finally the view, whilst eating my excellent breakfast, was across the dunes to huge port cranes the smoke belching oil refinery. I except the the local soil is mostly sand, but a row of trees and shrubs would soon grow up to hide most of it. Minor thing, but the room numbering is odd and defies standard convention, with 1st floor rooms starting with a “2”, so very Dutch! Staff were helpful and tried hard to make my stay pleasant.

Would I stay here again, maybe, maybe not.

Room Tip: If staying this summer, ask for a room with a view of the oil refinery, and those on the rear of the...

Good points: it's calm and quiet. The breakfast is ok. Bed is good and room was very clean.

Bad points: as said room was correct but it was very cold and humid (no heater nor ventilation). Also the swimming pool is currently closed until summer 2014.

We booked our End-of-the-year stay through Weekendjeweg.nl and had a 3 nights, pay 2 arrangement. The staff is friendly and they told us that we had been upgraded from the B&B to the hotel. Our room was rather tiny, but it is good enough only for sleeping. The beds are on the soft side and we brought are own pillows, just to be sure. The location is very nice, closely located to the Oostvoorne lake, with a panorama view of the Rotterdam Europort Maasvlakte. Especially at night this can be really enchanting, with all the factories illuminated. WIFI in the room is OK, and the breakfast was extensive, with lots of fresh fruit, but also warm items like scrambled eggs, white beans in tomato sauce, sausages etc. We did not tried the restaurant for dinner. The location of the swimming pool and the tennis court is a bit isolated and you need to use a dedicated elevator to get to them.
From the hotel it is about a one hour drive to Middelburg or Belgium (using the highway). Also a trip to the Maasvlakte (2) is worthwhile and not far from the hotel. We enjoyed our long weekend.

Room Tip: We had a rather small room without balcony. Ask for a room with a balcony if you want a bigger one...

One of the very few accommodations on the island of Voorne-Putten to offer rooms for disabled travellers. Do not expect fully wheelchair accessible rooms though (that's not what they claim, either). My husband and I are both in small manual wheelchairs and the room worked fine for us, even though to make it into the (fully accessible) bathroom we had to make a 90° turn in a narrow hallway.

But the best part about staying at this hotel is their breakfast, which includes all sorts of breads, cheeses, meats, scrambled/boiled eggs, yogurts, fruits, you name it. Even though unfortunately not for us, the location of the hotel is perfect to walk or bike through the coastal scenery and/or to go to the beach. Off the beaten track, in the best sense of the word.

WVM score a full 7 on a scale where 2 is crap. 4 is average and 7 is aiming for the stars. 7 because staff is very nice breakfast is excellent... only point that really needs to be improved is the business center... those computers are wind mills actuated. :D

Have been staying at the hotel for many years and have experienced very clean comfortable rooms, excellent friendly service and good quality food. The hotel is located in a small village next to the Dutch coast and lake, it is ideal for walking, fishing, kitesurfing, cycling and exploring the coastline by car. Highly recommended.
