Who would think that the best Rijsttafel to be found would be in the little village of Voorschoten, outside of Leiden. We found this restaurant through our hotel concierge while we were staying in at The Holiday Inn in Leiden. We expected nothing much at all.
We were very pleased and surprised when the owner came over to the table and proceeded to bring out the biggest and most delicious Rijsttafel we have ever had. Every dish was freshly made, every dish was expertly spiced. There were at least 25 dishes on the table. Since we had no idea if the Rijsttafel would be any good, we also ordered duck. The two of us finished almost the entire Rijsttafel. The owner, who speaks perfect English, was the perfect hostess.
If you are in the Leiden area, come here. If you sneeze you will miss the restaurant, but hold your sneeze, because the food is excellent. They also do take out, and had we known about this place sooner, we would have come here every night during our week's stay in Leiden.
