Very good hotel - cheap and centrally located. It is in the center of Edirne and near the pedestrian street and Selimiye Cami
The room was quiet and comfortable. A perfect end for a day in historical town.
On the morning you can enjoy a breakfast on the top floor. Drink your Turkish coffee or Turkish apple tea on the balcony, while watching the sun rising over the city.

Dirty, smelly, dark, unfriendly staff... We couldn't stay for the second night and got the hell out of there.
They can't speak ANY English and don't expect them to help you at all...
Avoid this hotel if you have any other choice...

Saray Hotel is a very good place to stay in Edirne. It is cheap, spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly. The view from the breakfast room is nothing to rave about but the breakfast is OK. The bedroom where I stay was comfortable, the only problem being that the water in the bathroom was tepid rather than hot....

The staff here was nice, although we had a problem communicating. but it is centrally located in Edirne and an easy walk to the main pedestrian mall. The beds -- not so comfy and what is the story with the shower?? No curtain -- so water is everywhere in the bathroom. I just couldn't figure out how to do it.
The complimentary breakfast was A+ -- and the view from the restaurant was fabulous -- its on the upper most floor.
It was a bit noisy at night -- motorcycles revving and people talking loudly.

You should certainly go to Edirne if you are interested in Ottoman Turkey. It has three exquisite mosques from slightly different eras with fascinating differences, and one of them Sinan's best work in his own opinion. It also has an Ottoman medical complex (with another mosque, of course) a 15th-c. Salk Institute. "Killiye," it's called, which just means "complex of buildings," I think. The trip is really worthwhile. The Saray Hotel is not expensive and was recommended in the guide books. But it is staffed by a bunch friendly louts who haven't a word of English among them, and they don't straighten up your room every day. I wouldn't stay there again, though I have no anger against them. They were as helpful as they could be, though they had no idea that a hotel deals with foreigners. Edirne is the previous Ottoman capital before the conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul) but it is a completely provincial place today. But be sure to go for the glorious architecture (even a tower left over from Hadrian)!

Room Tip: Try a different hotel, but this is a provincial town now (in spite of its 15th-c. "metropolitan...

Saray Hotel has an excellent location in the quiet street in the vicinity of Saraclar Caddesi, which is a pedestrian street with many cafes, fountains and houses in Ottoman style. Most beautiful mosques, Eski Cami, Uc Serefeli Cami and Selimiye Cami, covered bazaars and central squer of the City, Hurriyet Maydani, are just in the walking distance. The biggest attraction of the hotel is top floor breakfast room with terrace. Guests can observe unique panorama of the roofs of the City with minarets of the most famous mosques while eating breakfast. The staff, especially the two serving breakfast, are very kind and helpful.
The room was rather small but clean. The main drawback was the bathroom, lacking shower curtain and the floor flooded with water after each shower. The lack of the lift may be a problem for elderly people. But the view from the terrace compensated all these inconveniences.

We had a very good experience of Saray hotel during our short stay in Edirne. The fact that this hotel is very well known can be judged from the fact that almost all taxi drivers in the otogar (which is about 10 kms from the city center) knew about this hotel. Location wise it is perfectly situated in the city center and very close to all major mosques of Edirne. The staff is very efficient, knowledgeable, good-natured, though communicating in English can be a bit troublesome at times. They were very honest and booked taxis for us to go to the main otogar without any commission. The rooms were also very good, well-heated and reasonably priced. It had comfortable beds, a functioning wardrobe and useful furniture. The bathroom was also very clean and there was 24 hours hot water. The breakfast arrangement on the top floor was fantastic with a panorama view and appetizing food.
We liked our stay in this hotel and will definitely recommend a stay here for anybody visiting Edirne.
