“A warm welcome!”
Reviewed 4 October 2013 via mobile

We stumbled across this pub on a windy wet Dartmoor day. They are very welcoming, dog friendly and the food was average. Good enough for a nice lunch! Would recommend but if you want better food push on to the Two Bridges Inn.

“Great place for dog walkers”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

I'm a bit late with this review, but we stayed at the Forest Inn back in March and had a really good time. Stayed four nights and ate well (and differently) each night. Good Specials Board that changes every few days. Landlady and lord were exceptionally friendly and the locals were good fun. Excellent full English breakfast with free sausage for your hound! They have dogs and are obviously keen to have yours stay, too. The Inn's right bang in the middle of Dartmoor and there are really lovely walks (long and short) right outside. Try Wistman's Wood - that's a must. A very short drive will get you anywhere on the moor. The walks, the dog-friendliness, the food and the ale are important to us and the Forest Inn came up trumps on all counts.

“from french travellers”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

Our stay at The Forest Inn was one of the best of our trip around Cornwall and Devon. There, the welcome Is very good, the staff is very friendly. Our diner was delicious as the breakfast. We spent two marvellous days on the Dartmoor... we are looking forward to going to south england as soon as possible.. We keep the address, for us and for our friends !
Good luck to the new owners !

“Good food - good value”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

Despite being under some stress due to a sudden staffing problem, the staff here were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and very good value and even though there was a sudden influx of customers, arrived in reasonable time. My 93 year old mother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed her 'locally sourced hamburger' with bacon and cheese and my goat's cheese stuffed mushrooms were delicious, with a tasty salad - although I must say I get a bit fed up with the ready-made coleslaw that seems to be essential to all salads - it's the only bit I left.
All in all, would recommend.

“Weekend Break”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

We booked this Inn for a weekend break as it was very close to places I wanted to visit from my childhood. It is located in a beautiful part of the moors ideally placed for most of the south moors. All the staff were really good friendly and helpful. The breakfast. if you went for "the works" would keep you going all day, Wonderful. We had one evening meal which was also very good. To be honest the room could have done with a bit of a make over but when you are only sleeping in it after good days out on the moors all you need is clean and comfy and it was that. If you are on a break to be picky about the décor you should review your priorities. Ideal for walkers etc etc.
