“Great B&B in lovely countryside”
Reviewed 4 October 2011

We stayed here one night after a wedding. The staff were friendly and helpful us as we rushed around late for a friend's wedding. Our room was clean, with a modern and well maintained decor. The ensuite bathroom was perfectly good for us (clean with a large effective shower) but there was no bath in ours so if it is important for you to have a bath then ask about that when you book. The full english breakfast was one of the better examples of the genre, really, really delicous sausages and bacon. The B&B is in a beautiful rural location. The price seemed to be in the average range one expects to pay for a decent B&B these days. Would recommend this B&B if you are looking for a rural getaway.

We stayed at the Saxon Inn for three nights, we found it to be very clean and tidy.
We only ate breakfast at the inn but it was filling and very nicely cooked and presented.
They had 4-5 different real ales on tap, we tried them all, and found them all to be to our likeing.
The Saxon is a bit out of the way, but within easy reach of the main routes and towns.
All in all the Saxon Inns well worth staying at.

We stayed round the corner in self-catering accommodation. The food at the Saxon Inn was so good we found it necessary to visit there four times during our week long stay. Nothing pretentious, good old-fashioned pub food but good quality. Decent pint of real ale, usually three or four on. Landlady was very welcoming.

My friend and I had the pleasure of a one night's stay here last night, occupying two of the four available rooms. We sought a charming spot between Cornwall and Basingstoke and I found this spot online. One room had a double bed, nicely finished but small, and immaculate. It had a large en suite with a huge tub/shower, also immaculate. Free wifi and breakfast included. The second room was equally fine, a twin bedded room with a shower, no bathtub. Both had flat screen tvs with many channels available. Peter, the proprietor, is delightful and charming and the inn is his and his wife, Helen's pride and joy. The pub's dinner offerings were pretty typical for a pub but were just fine. Breakfast was cooked to order. We were sorry to have to go, as we were sure Peter would have many more stories to entertain us with. A tip-by booking directly with the hotel we were able to get a single rate for each room that was not available on a booking site at a considerable saving. Delightful!

We have just had one night in this lovely tucked away pub. They have four rooms available. Ours was quite small (we had been told this when booking) with an extremely comfortable bed, very large shower and spotlessly clean. Also provided was tea and coffee. We were made very welcome and our room was ready on our early arrival. We had a very hearty breakfast beautifully served in the pub dining room. Would certainly stay there again and would recommend it when staying in this lovely part of Dorset.

The Saxon Inn is a lovely Pub in the beautiful Dorset countryside. Very welcoming, great food and good ales. Great location for some lovely walks in the country. Rooms are furnished to a very good standard and spotlessly clean. We will stay again.
