“Friendly local pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2013

Stayed in Westleton recently and went to the White Horse Inn twice - once for just drinks the other to eat. Found it a lovely, friendly local pub. Good sized garden, dog friendly both in the dining room and garden, great beer and okay food. Good mixture of holiday makers and local people which gives it a nice welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely go again

We stopped here for a beer or two and sat in the large pretty garden, the staff were very pleasant. The next evening after a day out in Southwold we returned to The White Horse and had a great night and again the staff were very friendly. A little worse for wear at the end of the evening!! the Landlord very kindly offered us a place to store our bikes and gave us a lift back to the campsite, you can't get better customer service than that. We'll be returning again when we are that way to try the food as this also looked great. Many thanks for your help and hospitality.

A friendly and welcoming atmosphere, great food (and beer and wine!) . We've visited this pub plenty of times over the last few years but the new landlords are doing a fantastic job - we've just been staying in the area and visited 4 times over a week with our 2 children and each time was a pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble, a varied and interesting menu, sensibly priced with plenty of daily specials and small portions available for children. Lovely relaxing garden and no pressure. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: We didnt stay overnight so are unable to comment on the rooms but understand they are in the process...

Visited the White Horse for the first time. The pub had a really nice atmosphere and the food was delicious. I had the lamb and mint suet pudding. which I really enjoyed. The pub was quite busy and unfortunately this affected the service. Our meal was meant to come with potatoes. When we mentioned this no one came to apologise, explain or offer a solution. After waiting for a while a member of staff came and said "I don't suppose you want potatoes as you've nearly finished". This was not an adequate response and we would have been quite right to cause a fuss. If something is on the menu it should be provided. The only explanation given was that they were busier than normal for a Monday. But it was the last week of July full summer holiday time on a lovely day. There was no apology or recompense made. We enjoyed our meal and time in the pub and it was a friendly place. I would still come back as I live locally and had overall a positive experience but hopefully the service will be better next time.

Room Tip: Have the suet pudding of the day its really tasty!!

A recent short stay in Westleton gave us the opportunity of dining at The White Horse Inn. The food was exceptionally tasty and the choice varied; prices were par for the course and the atmosphere very friendly - certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

This was a rather poor example of B&B in East Anglia, the bar/restaurant staff were very good, the building could do with renovating since it was all creaking floor boards and dark stairways. At £80 per night I was disappointed that the room remained unserviced for the 3 days we stayed. Running out of tea/milk/coffee/sugar we had to ask for replenishment.
Breakfast was very good, no complaints at all.
The location was good for the lovely countryside and visitor attractions but the pub was disappointingly priced for what was on offer.

On a cycle ride through Norfolk and Suffolk, we stayed at the White Horse Inn, Westleton for one night in April. Our twin room, ready as soon as we arrived, was very clean and surprisingly spacious. The food was very good (particularly the full-English breakfast), and there was a great selection of local ales. Our short visit was made particularly pleasant by the owner Rob, who was very welcoming and only too happy to accommodate our specific, and rather short-notice, requests (e.g. an early breakfast and a dry, indoor space to store our bikes). The White Horse Inn is located in the centre of picturesque Westleton, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to spend a relaxing night in the Suffolk countryside.
