We recently came to stay at the Crown for a weekend on a special deal, paid a bit more for a room upgrade and we had a comfortable pleasant room which overlooked the road - but wasn't noisy. The Crown is situated in a small quiet village near Dunwich on the Suffolk coast. Great for walking, birdwatching or just doing nothing.
The setting is beautiful, the food was excellent ( and at the pricier end of a gastro pub), and the staff were all without exception helpful.
Breakfast was very good. The only down side was that the sound proofing between rooms was occasionally a bit lacking (newly weds next door?) - but we were not too bothered by this.
After we left we realised that we had left a much loved blanket in our room (Hotel duvets always baking). Staff at the Crown sent it too us the next day.
We love this part of Suffolk and visit often and definitely hope to return to this spot soon.

Room Tip: Our room faced the road, but this is a sleepy village and all goes quiet after 9pm. Nice view of the...

Overall very good, I got a room upgrade which made the stay very pleasant and a nice touch. Staff at dinner were excellent and they found a good balance between being friendly and polite. Breakfast was well cooked and presented, staff could have been a bit more attentive. I have stayed at this hotel a few times and will continue to do so.

We stayed this weekend for our anniversary and were lucky to benefit from the fantastic Spring weather. The pub and rooms are just exceptional. We stayed as part of a voucher deal, at an almost criminal rate. The room was lovely, although the bed was a little small. The pub is extremely stylish without the crass Farrow and Ball touch. The staff are extremely good, the food was excellent. All in all we would thoroughly recommend the Crown, it's an amazing place with amazing food, in an exceptional location on the Suffolk Coast. You really should give it a try.

I would so like to give this accommodation a good review, but it lets itself down, I think, by it's delusions of grandeur following William and Kate's visit.

My husband and I stayed for our wedding anniversary in February. We were upgraded, to the room that W&K had for their anniversary, and, obviously, we were grateful for the upgrade. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower hot. I'm not sure I can really get my head around a roll top bath, sitting on a carpet, 3 feet from the side of the bed - maybe it's an age thing!!

The lounge areas of the pub were quaint, with open fires and comfortable seating areas. The big let down was the evening meal. This was very ordinary, and expensive for a pub meal. I really had to do a double take on checking out, when I discovered that my, albeit large, glasses (2) of Pinot Grigio had cost £18.20!!

Since we've been there, I've spoken to friends who remember when the Westleton Crown was a "special" place to eat and stay, but who have had the same experience as we had.

Stayed here last weekend in a 'Best' room for our anniversary. Room standard was good, bathroom was lovely. FOH staff were not the most friendly and we sat in the lounge waiting for our room to be ready and was never once asked if we wanted a tea/coffee or drinks, a bit of shame. We had dinner in the restaurant and that was excellent and the service was great there too no complaints.

The only downside was that there was a extractor fan in a room below us that was going all night and it really disrupted my sleep, when I mentioned it on checkout they said 'oh it is in the toilets downstairs, they normally turn it off at night, sorry' hmmm .........

We stayed for 2 nights, albeit on an "Amazon local" special deal, but am basing this review as if paying full price. The room "Tern" was nicely furnished and the bed very comfortable. However, even accepting that this is an old building, the creaking of floorboards everytime you moved, both in this room and the adjacent one, was concerning. The soundproofing in this room appears non-existent, and the movements and conversations of the people in the next room could be heard - embarrassingly so when they were in the bathroom. The noise of running of taps and flushing toilets also disturbing. Roll top baths with fancy tapworks with a hand held shower may look good in "House and Garden" but is totally impractical when you want a shower.
The cooked breakfast on the first morning was tepid - the hottest item was the plate. in fairness I tried it the next day and it was hot.
We didn't use their restaurant at night, was a bit pricey for our limited budget, and found good food and better value in surrounding pubs. But beware. This is a very popular pub/restaurant, so if you do go out in the evening you will not find a place in the car park when you return and will have to park on the street as we did.Not really a problem as it's a very quiet and safe village.
