Had a really poor, in fact abysmal experience on Sunday 25th May 2014 with the most disparaging, atrocious and down right insulting service in the restaurant.
Booked a meal for 7.45pm arrived, as one does, early, ordered a drink form the bar and greeted professionally, a good start.
Was aked to go through to the restaurant area, not escorted !!!! and greeted by one of the serving staff who offered us a table choice, we chose a quiet corner table for two and was seated by approx. 7.55pm, handed the menu and then all went downhill rapidly.
At 8.25pm i had to ask for our order to be taken and given an excuse that other guests had arrived late hence the delay, not impressed i had to suffer for there tardiness, but I know these things happen. I ordered a glass of wine, which did not arrive, had to ask again after waiting a further 10 minutes. Eventually we finished our excellent i must admit, 2 course meal at 9.35pm , would have been at least 3 courses plus coffee but i felt that nearly 2 hours for 2 courses costing £68.25 and service less attentive than i would have expected from a roadside cafe was more than enough insults for one evening, we paid and left.
I was and still am disgusted that we were treated so disdainfully, souring what had been and fortunately continued to be a wonderful visit to this part of England, both my partner and i are seasoned travellers within the British Isles and internationally and we can honestly say this was the worst treatment we had ever experienced.

I loved the Westleton Crown. We had a beautiful 2 nights in one of the 'better' rooms which had a lovely comfy bed and a claw foot bath big enough for two. It was quite warm in our room - it was an incredibly warm weekend, so it might be worth asking for a fan on warm nights, but we loved the room. We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant on one night - it's certainly not cheap but it was all cooked perfectly and tasted lovely. Breakfast was fab - I recommend the scrambled egg with smoked salmon. On our second night, we ate in another local pub but returned to the Westleton Crown for dessert and some wine. The sitting room area was incredibly comfortable and relaxing, and the service was exceptional. I'd definitively recommend The Westleton Crown - it has a lovely relaxing environment, and is perfectly located for exploring RSPB Minsmere and some of the beautiful Suffolk coastline.

We've eaten here quite a few times and have had some fairly good evening meals and good pub lunches, however on this occasion they really let themselves down. It was a Saturday night, booked in for 8pm. Seated at 8.30, but still didn't have our main course by 9.45pm. The worst thing was the customer service, as no one came over to explain to us that they were running behind and how long our main course would be. We actually left before our main course arrived. The restaurant manager dealt with it really badly and the General Manager had to step in - he then explained they had 2 large tables who had arrived late, which had put them behind. There were clearly a lot of couples in the same position as us, one complained and were offered a bottle of wine on the house. The GM was as least understanding of the situation - so we didn't pay for anything and he offered us a complementary meal on our return. However the starter my husband had were mussels which were gritty and hadn't been cleaned properly. A shame as it has been a reliable place to go to before. Think it will be a while before we return, as there are several better options in the area now and they clearly have some improvements to make.
