went with my wife on a rainy Saturday in Brighton and decided to stay for the night. All the places i tried were fully booked or outrageously expensive. We ended up trying Kingsway Hotel and booked the last room they had available. The prices were much lower than expected and the place was quite all right. Is not a big hotel but the location was perfect for us. We had a cousy room with seaview which was great until the night came and the wind got pretty strong and noisy. It scared my wife and made her quiet for the whole evening which wasn't so bad after all. I really think the place is good for the price we've paid. The breakfast was not too impressive but the staff was quite friendly and at the end we had as much food as we wanted. They let us keep the bags in the hotel until later afternoon so we were able to go for a walk before we went home. To be honest at the end of the day we stayed in a nice place, with nice location and still saved couple of quid. For me it was a good experience. As long as i receive good accomodation i would never go to Hilton to save some party money for miss Paris.

Sylvia London

Stayed there a few years ago and the place was immaculate and the service was excellent, did not realise there had been a change of owners who obviously let it go down hill.

The place needs a total revamp, rooms and shower/toilet facilities were dirty, nobody interested if you made a complaint and the breakfast was mediocre, this place has had its day and I would not recommend it to anyone. Very disappointing.

My advice is whatever you do - simply stay away. You have been warned! This hotel is a complete shambles. Do not be fooled by the four diamonds that has been awarded by the South Eastern England Tourist Board.
I booked two rooms (one double and one single) for May Bank Holiday weekend. Only one room had been reserved and on arriving at the hotel my husband and I were expected to share with my Mother! The young in-expoerienced assistant finally found a room for my mum but she had to change rooms the following night. Unfortunatley for us - as this was a bank holdiay - we were unable to find rooms in other hotels. All rooms were were very grim and dirty, windows had no locks, musty drapes and curtains, broken door hinges and locks that did not work, questionable tea and coffee facilities, no hot water in one of the rooms. If you wanted a late night snack - there was always the used chewing gum stuck in a bedside drawer. Bedside lamps that had not seen a duster in years and shandaliers with half the lightbulbs either not working or missing. Very strange ensuite facilities. Young assistant hardly ever available - especially in the mornings before 9.00am. Breakfast was very limited continental - in fact we went elsewhere for our breakfast. And as it was very difficult to get attention from the assistant (seems like we had to keep waking her up) we nearly left without paying (we wer tempted). If were were not in Brighton for a conference we would have left on the first night. All in all a terrible experience. Try it at you peril.

We have just returned from a trip to Brighton and Hove, due to lack of available Hotels for the period we were staying I decided to chance this Hotel again, stayed last year and it was so cold in the rooms, no heating on at all and it was late in the year when I stayed.
This time after phoning the new owners and being advised that yes they do have full central heating and yes it is on 247. I booked a single room for two weeks and a double room for the same two weeks. The first week was not too bad, although the breakfast has a lot to be desired, the rooms were warm. The second week was awful, no hot water to wash and no heating in all of the Hotel. This lasted a full three days with no apologies from the Management whom never appeared anyway. The only point of contact was with the young lady of around 18 or 19 years who informed me she had only been working there for the past two weeks before we arrived and the owner popped in and out, he obviously was made aware of he problem but seemed unconcerned to his guests well being. No a chance now in hell of staying there again, no refund was offered or extra bedding to supplement the mere thin duvet they provide anyway.
My request for such were left unheeded and needed to pile my coats on my bed and wash by boiling the tiny kettle.
Do not recommend this Hotel to anyone, they say once bitten twice shy, but in my case twice bitten! Will I ever learn???
