My friend and I stayed at Charlton House for a weekend Spa break.
Having Travelled from Scotland, we arrived early, and the staff at Reception looked after our bags, and took us to the Spa, where we spent a couple of hours until our room was ready. The Spa area is great, and even though it was cold outside, it was great to sit out in the outdoor hot tub. Our room was just amazing, with it's own little conservatory. The staff even had even put fresh milk in the fridge for us.
The staff were incredibly helpful, and friendly. We ate in the restaurant both nights, and the waiter even remembered which wine we'd had for dinner the night before. The food was great.
We spent lots of time in the Spa area, there was a treatment included with our package, and we also booked some other treatments which were great, we also spent a lot of time just chilling on the sofas reading our books, and a big thanks to Trish the Spa Manager (acting Manager?) who looked after us really well over the 3 days that we were there, she couldn't do enough for us.

There was nothing about our stay which wasn't perfect, we could not come up with a single thing which we weren't happy about.

I cannot wait to go back, and have been raving about the place to all of my friends
Duncan Bannatyne should be incredibly proud of this hotel, and even more proud of it's staff.

What a stunning hotel, lovely location, beautiful rooms – think warm and cosy which was great given it was a cold winter’s day!

The big let down with this hotel is the staff – they boarder on ignorant and rude and on some occasions both – particularly the woman who worked in the bar, who was not only the aforementioned but also incredibly patronising. It’s the people that make a hotel great and unfortunately the staff at Charlton House are preventing it being exactly that – a real shame.

My wife and I very much enjoy country house hotels. Charlton House has been on our list of "places to visit" for some years. We nearly booked a stay in the spring, but realised it had gone into administration and decided not to take the risk based on contemporary reviews. So when we needed a weekend break to escape from builders putting in our new kitchen, we were very pleased to see the hotel was "under new management" and that the reviews had improved.

I'm delighted to say that our expectations were well met. Although all the rooms were taken, there was plenty of space in the beautifully furnished public rooms. We had three excellent meals in addition to breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and not imposing.

One minor issue was that the radiator hadn't come on in what seemed to be our newly furnished room in the annex - it did take two calls to get the boiler serving the room restarted - and the room was nice and warm once this was sorted.

The hotel is undergoing further refurbishment and the spa is being expanded. I'm sure it can only improve - though hopefully the prices won't increase as well!

We returned home after a two hour drive back to Surrey feeling relaxed and refreshed from our stay.

As always absolutely wonderful. This was our first stay since the renovations and we were concerned that some of it's charm may have been lost. We did not need to worry it has been improved subtly eg a jacuzzi outside, elemis products in the spa. The reception manager was charming and the staff faultless!
We left after 24 hours feeling relaxed and rejuvinated. A must stay!

My wife and I found Charlton house hotel on our way back from our Honeymoon in Cornwall. This hotel is amazing in every way, we have stayed in some great places in the past so have high standards. On arrival the reception staff could not do enough even though we had not booked. The room we chose, only 3 left, was awesome, and very reasonable considering the quality of room and facitlities.
All rooms have very nice gowns which are handy in the Spa, which is spotless with the best outdoor hottub ever, there are even couches to sit and relax after a good steam.

The hotel has two rosettes for food, and it shows. Glastonbury and Cheddar Gorge are only just own the road and we even stopped at Stonehenge on our way back to London.

Book here and you will not be disapointed, great staff, rooms and above all a great place to spoil your partner.

We are going for our anniversary next year.

Took a friend to the spa for the day as a treat to say thank you and we both had the most amazing relaxed and generally lovely time. The spa was lovely and quiet and we were able to relax and chat. The package had two treatments with it which were amazing.....a hot shell massage and a Elemis facial. Came home feeling really relaxed and ready for another week. Would definitely recommend to a friend and will be coming back for more!
