“Excellent fish and chip restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

Called in on a journey up the A 37. Convenient parking and excellent first impressions of a clean, light and airy restaurant.
They were quite busy but we were quickly shown to a table and our order taken efficiently by a friendly waitress.
Our fish and chips arrived quickly. The cod appeared to be straight out the frier, was a good size, no oiliness, the batter very crisp and nice properly cooked flakey Cod. The chips were fine but could have been crisper.
We had the pensioners special which was really good value followed up by a generous scoop of ice cream.
We were very happy customers and will probably make this a regular stop when using the A 37.

“Never disappoints”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Spotlessly clean, fast service, friendly helpful staff and excellent food. A varied menu with daily 'specials' and desserts. Has never varied in quality since the day it opened, always first class. Only tiny moan is the limited parking space.

“There's good, there's better, but this is best . . .”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

Whitstones is, by far, the best fish restaurant we have ever eaten in. Folk come from miles around to see if it is as good as people say – I am sure that they are not disappointed. We are local and eat there at least once a week – their "Specials" really are! But if it's just fish and chips you're after, beware! If you order "large" it isn't – it's enormous, and unless you have a gargantuan appetite, you will rue that you cannot manage it all. (But there's always the doggy bag!). And it's licensed.
