Went to this hotel with a group and my overwhelming thought was that it was a nerve to serve up such awful food. One of the worst meals I have ever had. As experienced by the previous reviewer, the white wine was warm - that was the only drink I managed to get hold of all night as during the meal no-one could find the barman. I imagine they lost a lot of potential profit on the drinks. Service was extremely slow and the room was too brighly lit. Everyone had a piece of mashed potato in a cylindrical shape which some found impossible to cut through. My individual steak and ale pie was absolutely awful and very salty. Goats cheese tarts were no better, with dried curling cheese. My neighbour had a chicken tagine which is an insult to North African food. I lived in Morocco for 20 years and have NEVER seen a tagine like it - a chicken breast covered in gravy with a few bits of chopped red pepper!
How dare any restaurant imagine for one second that customers would enjoy food like that - what an insult! Never again.

A party of us went to Bowlish House on 26/4/2013 the food was awful it was not home cooked food it had been brought in and just warmed up the portions of veg was a joke it was just two mouthfuls the dessert was the same as for the cheese it was so hard and crumpled up at the edges, how do they think they can serve food like this in a beautiful Gergian House. Also the white wine was served warm. It must be new owners who has this Hotel now as the food used to be so good and really experience staff uses to wait on the tables, the staff which were on that evening brought one plate out at a time which took for ever, we waited an hour before we got our meal served to us, so would never go back to that restaurant again.

We stayed at this small hotel for the night and had dinner and breakfast during out stay. We were the only customers in the restaurant throughout both meals and would give much better marks for the breakfast. Our evening meal was passable but the vegetables were somewhat limited as "Chef had to trow a lot of items out because of a problem with the refrigerator" a comment that was not encouraging. My wife requested no oil or butter on the veg but this request was not followed. We each ordered a main course that required a £6.00 premium: whilst the rack of lamb was of good quality it was not a generous portion, the fillet steak wax passable but should be avoided if you do not like aged meat with a definitely gamey taste and smell.

Driven past hundreds of times, but first visit and it was for sunday lunch. On arrival, not sure if we were making a mistake, front doors closed, garden a bit untidy and a prominant, apparently abandoned, green wheely bin on the drive! However as we approached the front door it was opened for us with a welcoming smile and that was the begining of a very pleasant couple of hours. Drinks and orders taken in the cosy bar, big comfy lounge with fire next door. Sunday lunch menue was on offer with a xmas lunch menue, both looked good but we settled for the sunday. Wasn't long before we were taken through to a very pleasant dining room that looked out onto the rear garden, much tidier than the front, white linen tablecloth and napkins on nicely laid tables. We had three different starters all of which were well presented and eaten with some gusto. We all had lamb for main which was well cooked and tasty and served with plenty of nice veg. Puds were good, chocolate torte especially. Coffe/tea was offered in the lounge but declined, no room. Staff service was great, courteous and friendly throughout. We left as happy punters and will go back. The bill for 3 of us? less than £55 including drinks, We've paid more in local hostelries where the food, service and surroundings were not even close.

Thanks to chef Bradley !!! Your food is great! I would travel from London just to have a good dinner!!

To be honest the menu looked quite pricy initially. Not knowing what the quality was like but I m so glad we stay to eat !!! It's worth it n it's the best I have tasted. Not pretentious, just good food.
For us it was a quite night. We were the only table. It was an added bonus. We had the whole place to ourselves n it's was still very cosy. Just like home.
I would recommend everything n don't miss out on the banana chesecake!!!!! Best dinner by far!!!! Thanks val n chris n everyone for staying up with us!!!
