Stayed at this new hotel the night before we flew to Thailand, the rooms were fab, the place was ideal for a short walk to airport, we had a meal in the hotel, which was lovely, I would stay here again.

Having had a tiring drive up from down south for a family christening, we were really pleased with the Doubletree. It's modern and fresh, clean and tidy. The staff are all very friendly and courteous, which is a bonus from the outset! Our room was spacious, with a comfortable kingsize bed and a 37" TV, plush carpet and a terrific bathroom/showerroom. For air travellers, the location is unbeatable - you can walk to the terminal in a couple of minutes. We only heard 3 aircraft departing on the Saturday and 1 on the Sunday morning, so it wasn't noisy as far as we were concerned. Breakfast is straightforward - help yourself from the buffet bar at the back of the restaurant, or order a cooked breakfast when the waitress arrives to take your coffee order. How difficult is that?
Overall, we would have no hesitation in booking the Doubletree again in future. Let's hope it maintains these high standards for the future. Thanks for a great stay!

An average sized room, but with a really good bathroom and quality fixtures & fittings. Comfortable bed and pilows, reasonable priced and good quality food in restaurant, free wi-fi and free parking!

Stayed 2 nights. A great, good value Hilton. Rooms large, well equipped with tea, iron, good bed. Air con could be more efficient (generally too hot). About 30 mins by Metro train to Centre (£4.20 all day pass). Nicely laid-out bar and restaurant. 2 mins walk from terminal.

Room Tip: Always smile and ask for an upgrade especially if Honours member

After returning on a late Saturday evening flight from a Ski Holiday in Austria we booked into the hotel. A fantastic location which is literally minutes from the main Airport Terminal, however had an good nights sleep with noticeable flight noise.

The check in was seamless with a very helpful and pleasant service. Have used Double Tree Hilton Hotels elsewhere in the country but on this visit no cookies offered? Spacious room very well appointed with a large and very comfortable king size bed.

After settling in my wife and I had a very enjoyable and excellent value meal at the in house Italian Restaurant Frattellos. The waiter service was professional, approachable and very friendly, Food and wine was well priced for a hotel of this standard.

Like other reviewers the breakfast was a bit of a hit or a miss. The breakfast food was of a good standard with the usually wide variety available. But unlike the excellent service we received the previous evening in the Italian restaurant the breakfast service was at best mediocre. Having to ask twice for a coffee refill and the restaurant wasn't busy, things only got worse when I asked Marta the waitress if there was the possibility of getting some sauce for my breakfast I got the reply, I don't know, not really the best response to a customer. I am still awaiting the sauce being delivered that she said she would get. This member of the breakfast staff would appear to prefer to flirt in open view of customers with the chefs rather than serve paying customers. Some priority customer service training required in this area along with some supervision of staff.

This unfortunate event aside we had a very good experience and would not hesitate to use this hotel again and would recommend it to our friends and relatives.

Arrived at the Hotel and had a great welcome. However the check in computers are so low the Receptionist had to kneel down to check us in.

Got to our room and WOW great view across the runway which the kids loved.

Breakfast was not the norm with help your self to a table and guess how it works. Looking to the back of the Restaurant I guess it's all down there, however empty juice, hot food dried or empty.

Waiter walks around the Restaurant with a a pot of coffee but did not offer me any.

The hotel is very new and needs time to get it right

Please don't take any if these comments as a complaint, these are my comments to help this hotel go from great to greater. I can't wait to return.

Room Tip: All good. We had overlooking the runway and heard nothing.

Since opening in late 2011, this establishment has become my business hotel of choice when working in the Newcastle area. Despite being only yards from the airport, there is practically no noise. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the beds comfortable.

This hotel does have a gym, though it doesn't seem to be well advertised, with a good range of machines and free weights. Access is with a separate key that you have to ask for at reception.

The restaurant is Italian-style with reasonable prices. Service is quick when the restaurant is quiet, but when moderately full the kitchen seems to get backed up with orders and service deteriorates rapidly. The food is good quality but portion sizes have reduced over the past few months to the point where some of the starters, e.g. bruschetta, are truly bite-sized. However, the restaurant does stock a good selection of international beers, including many that I had never tried before.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant and consists of self-service continental and English options. For those needing an early start, it is useful that breakfast is served from 6.30am.

There are plenty of parking spaces, both above ground and underground, though the underground car park can be a bit tricky to navigate with an estate car.

With the usual Hilton HHonors points on offer and the main Hilton hotel in Gateshead often fully booked, this is a great hotel for anyone collecting Hilton points. With reasonable prices and good transport links - both road and metro - this is also a good hotel to choose for anyone visiting the Newcastle area.

Dear storuk Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the Doubletree by Hilton. We have soundproofing throughout the hotel and special doubleglazing to minimize the noice levels so even though we are only steps away from the run way you wouldn't realize. The gym is only for our guests in the hotel to ensure that our guest have the benefit of our facilities. I am glad you enjoyed are italian restaurant and I can let you know that we have now changed breakfast service to start at 4.30 to help guests with early flights.
There are just over 100 car parking spaces at the hotel whicjh makes it easy to find a parking space. Thanks for mentioning our hilton honors which we are proud to offer our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back soon to the Doubletree By Hilton Newcastle Airport
