“Perfect wedding!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2014

My husband and I had our civil ceremony and reception here in September. The staff were always extremely helpful and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. Great value wedding package! Lovely food and atmosphere, well decorated throughout and comfy beds. Will defiantly return

We stayed overnight at this hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough.
The building itself was fascinating, lovely old architecture, old beams and a very interesting history.
We stayed in a court yard room with loads of character, little windows, dark beams and a four poster. The room was warm and comfortable and the decor pleasing. The bed was a little hard for our taste but that is a personal preference.
We ate a meal in the bar and enjoyed the snug comfortable atmosphere followed by very palatable food.
Breakfast was excellent. My partner is vegetarian and this only the second hotel we have stayed in that offered veggie sausages with the breakfast!
All the staff were extremely polite and friendly.
We would love to come and stay here again especially as the hotels location makes it ideal for visiting many historic points of interest.

I really don't like moaners but god this place is bad. Needs someone to splash the cash a bit. And find the thermostat.

Cold reception, cold room, cold dinner, cold breakfast, cold staff.

Don't bother.

Having stayed in other Best Western hotels I was not sure what to expect with this one. Any doubts that I had were certainly quashed the minute I entered the hotel. As you drive up to hotel this beautiful looking hotel is in front of you with ample car parking. On booking in the receptionist was very professional and made the proceedure very hassle free. I was staying in room 1 which is situated at the front of the hotel. The room was very large, the bathroom was very modern and the whole room was immaculate. Although not a massive choice on the room service menu, what was received was very well presented and tasty. The service and presentation of the tray was very good also. As I am proposing to be in the area for a while on business I had not booked any other dates as I wanted to see what the hotel was like first. All I can say is I booked again whilst I was there. I would definetly recommend this hotel should you be staying in this area.

This was our second visit to this wonderful hotel. Warm surroundings, friendly and extremely pleasant staff and delicious food! Just can't fault this excellent hotel. The building is full of surprises, with corridors and doors leading in all directions. We will keep this hotel high on our list of places to stay in that area.

Room Tip: We had room 10, which is a large room at the front over the dining room. The bed was very comfortabl...

After much searching we chose historic Salford Hall Hotel for our wedding ceremony and celebrations on 4th January 2014 and we were not disappointed. A weekend with exclusive use from Friday 2pm till 11am on Sunday. Easy access from motorway network and A46. The weekend was fabulous and the wedding day truly amazing, with the hotel playing a big part in making our special day truly memorable. Nothing was to much trouble for the hotel staff and events organiser, constantly reminding us that it was OUR DAY. They more than lived up to our expectations even with our attention to detail. The lovely Regent / Arden suite for our marriage ceremony, which we also used early evening for a marriage blessing which included our evening guests to, was a lovely setting. The marquee was perfect for our wedding meal ,the Stanford room, reception area, conservatory and bar were attractive, varied and comfortable to use. An Excellent deal which included reception, drinks and canopies, wine, buffet and disco. We included A Ceilidh band to complete our evening entertainment . The hotel has lovely gardens where by a few photos were managed outside even at the beginning of January , but after dark the hotel looks stunning and welcoming, inside and out. We were able to have live music during our ceremony, and an extra reception after our blessing with excellent mulled wine accompanying our wedding cake, the hotel provided an extra real ale for the beer enthusiasts at no charge. The weekend accommodation wedding rate was excellent for all guests, and an extra night spent in the bridal suite was lovely. Overhaul we cannot recommend the hotel as a wedding venue to highly. All our guests said what a fabulous and wonderful wedding weekend, the venue and accommodation stunning and many since have complimented the food and hospitality. Just a point of note, Do check volume of Hotel CD player if you require music to be played during your ceremony or take your own. To Deborah, Trisha and each and every one of the hotel team involved with our wedding. . . . . . .. . . THANK YOU.. . Linda and Maurice.

We were a party of 10 staying at the hotel as part of their Burns Night package and thought that the charge (£100 per couple) was incredibly good value, it included bed & breakfast plus Scottish themed dinner complete with piper and disco.

The building itself has a very long history starting in the 15th century and is grade 1 listed. It's therefore not surprising that all of the rooms are very different, in terms of size and shape, and are reached by a maze of stairs and corridors. Our room (number 32) was across the courtyard in the stable block and was probably the smallest in the hotel but it was quaint with a lot of exposed beams. The bathroom was completely different - large, modern with a good shower and great towels.

It's fairly obvious that quite a lot of money has been spent renovating and modernising the hotel without spoiling the historic fabric of the building.

The bar is relatively small and cosy with cask ale on draught (Purity UBU and golden ale), it was a nice environment to sit and chat while enjoying a drink. The reception area, which must have been the main hall at some point, has a large open fire and comfortable seating. There is also a covered courtyard which would be great on a nice sunny day (unfortunately it was raining throughout our stay).

The dining room is perhaps the least quirky room in the hotel but even this is an odd shape with multiple doors leading to the same corridor. Breakfast was cooked to order and was therefore hot, the full English was OK but nothing special but the smoked salmon with scrambled egg and the omelettes were very good. The Burns night dinner was excellent - cock-a-leekie soup, haggis & neeps, perfectly cooked chicken with a creamy sauce and great braised beef. The wine list was a bit on the expensive side and a bit limited but nothing to complain about.

Overall I though the hotel was full of character and because it is fairly small it had a homely feel. The staff (of which there were plenty unlike many modern hotels) were very friendly and did everything possible to make us feel welcome. I should imagine that it is a perfect venue for a wedding if only for the photo opportunities in the grounds.

There were a few niggles
- only one out of three light bulbs worked in our bathroom (surely this must be obvious to whoever cleans the room)
- there was little hanging space so I wouldn't want to stay in this particular room more than one night (the other rooms were larger and did have sufficient space)
- the shower initially didn't work at all due to low water pressure, as soon as I placed the headset on the floor it kicked in and was fine afterwards but it was a bit disconcerting

Room Tip: If staying more than one night avoid room 32.
