“A most pleasant return visit”
Reviewed 25 March 2013

Having found this excellent establishment last year, we were looking forward to our return visit this year during our 7-day stay at the Lochanhully Resort in Carrbridge. As expected, the hospitality was warm and welcoming, especially the big log fire in the sitting room where we had our pre-dinner drinks. The choice of menu was comprehensive and very reasonably priced and we all thoroughly enjoyed the various courses we had selected. It was beautifully cooked and the presentation was first class. There was, however, one BIG disappointment - the hotel was due to close for a week for some redecoration and our plans to eat there on several other occasions during the week were thwarted. We were so glad we managed our one meal there and look forward to many more enjoyable visits in future years.

My partner and I were attending a Wedding Dance in Carr-bridge and were looking for somewhere to stay. I came across this lovely hotel online at a very good price. Needless to say that when we arrived we were very impressed with the setting and a lovely traditional lodge.

We were made very welcome by the proprietor, had a speedy check in and was explained everything we needed to know. When getting into our room it was very warm and just had a lovely homely feel to it.

We had breakfast which was first class in the lovely breakfast room. I cannot fault this hotel and would recommend this for anyone to stay. Thanks for a lovey stay.

Stopped for dinner. Hotel has great character and ambience. Our party had 3 excellent meals not one could be faulted. Pheasant, lamb and fillet steak. Portions were sensibly healthy. Only downside was coolness of room temperature so take a pullover even though roaring log fires . Would definitely return.

The house is in a great location, and has some really nice people running it. A lot of the decor is a bit tired, but if you appreciate the wooden pitch pine and grand plaster mouldings, then a bathroom suite from the 80's doesn't seem to matter too much.

The food is of a pretty good standard, with the restaurant being quite popular on the weekends.

I will be going back, and will be happy to take the kids with me.

Room Tip: To get a room looking over the river would be a good move.

It is not that easy to see where the hotel is due to the new houses being built in front on it but once you arrive you are in for a real treat. We had booked a large double with seating area and it was a great room. Really big, plenty of space for the sitting area and a lovely view over the woods. The bathroom was also very big. Altogether it was very comfortable and I would happily have stayed here for a number of nights. The staff were very helpful and attentive to everything we needed. The warm welcome on arrival was the start of excellent service throughout our stay. Before dinner guests can sit in the charming lounge and enjoy pre-dinner drinks. I could easily have sat in there for a whole day, reading, enjoying the peace and the view over the garden. There is a good range of options for dinner all at very reasonable prices. Wine and beer were also good value. Our meals were much enjoyed. After dinner you can retreat to the lounge for coffee etc. Breakfast is excellent, fresh fruit options, cereals and various hot options. The hotel is amazing value. If you are within range stay here, it is the best hotel we found in the area. Findhorn and the coast, Loch garten, Aviemore, are all just a short drive; if I was planning my Highlands trip again I would base myself at this hotel. It is a real gem!

Room Tip: Go for the large double with seating area!
