“Excellent horse riding and lovely cottage accommodation”
Review of Rangihau Ranch

This is perhaps one of the best horse riding experiences for scenery in New zealand, with fabulous views out towards Whitianga and the ocean as you ride on the farmland. The horses are well cared for and a large covered area keeps them cooler in the summer. My horse wa selected to suit my medium ability and unlike other riding places I've been to - you're not expected to just do a slow walk the whole way unless you want to.
The staff are very helpful and experienced and will assist you with selecting a helmet and boots should you forget to bring your own!
There's also the chance to stay in a lovely cottage on site which is a peaceful little place to completely wind down.
All in all a really relaxing break with a few sores muscles from the horse ride!

This is the perfect antidote to living in the city. We luckily chose this place for a six night stay. We have done so much travelling in New Zealand, we needed a rest and this is the perfect place.
Chickens on the lawn, free veg from the garden, parrots in the trees, and charming, calm people looking after you. This is chilling out at its best - swimming in the river, bush bath, or go horseriding. Within 20k some of the best beaches in the world. Being able to use the wifi whilst sitting outside Tessa and Nick's farmhouse was a real help with arranging the rest of our holiday.
Tessa's garden is beautiful and her chutneys and marmalade delicious.

Arrived here and found the place easily thanks to good signage. Friendly people and we were allowed to harvest the vegetable garden for salad. Very peaceful and tranquil and socks the cat paid us a visit too. Hot water beach is 15 minutes drive away.

I chanced upon Rangihau Ranch's website whilst making a search on my phone in Katikati for Coromandel accomodation. Given the nature of such devices I made a gut decision based on the information presented in their first page and my family and I were tremendously rewarded as a result.

Tessa and Nick proved warm hosts who made certain that our every need was met with a minimum of fuss or intrusion. The accommodations were warm and inviting with every service we could have asked for available, including delicious fresh produce from the adjacent garden.

Tessa took us on a ride to the higher country at the back of the house on horses individually suited to our respective experience as riders. She and Nick knew intimately the natures of their horses and all of ours suited us well. The country was spectacular and Tessa's manner and guidance through it relaxed and knowledgeable.

We live in the bush, adjacent to world heritage rainforest and I have much experience as a stockman working by horseback so our delight is not that of delight at a novel experience, rather to stumble upon a tourism experience so warmly and competently executed by such lovely people in such magnificent surroundings.

Definitely the highlight of our Kiwi holiday and highly recommended for others.

Many thanks Nick and Tessa

Rangihau Ranch is in between Hahei and Whitianga on the Coromandel and is absolutely stunning. We took a ride and Tessa and her gang were so warm, kind and helpful.

They are careful to pick the correct horse for you, introduce you and give you clear direction on how to ride them. Including information on their individual quirks.

The ride took us up into the rolling hills and the views were amazing, the end of the ride saw us head through an orchard and down to the river before regrettably heading up to finish off our day.

I would recommend this to friends, families, or couples. It's a wonderful experience and well worth the money.
