“I like my cup of tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

Wonderful experience at the tail end of the busy summer season - VERY friendly staff, Steve goes out of his way to ensure a safe and quality sleepover.
Good offroad parking near your room - not too noisy cconsidering there are children in some areas. Gates close in the evenings so thankfully no midnight arrivals parking. Showers where clean with plenty of hot strong running water (5 min timer). Toilets allow plenty of leg room and easy access to toilet tissue use (flush well). Please remember to take your own soap and towels as these are not suupplied.
Kitchen area was communal and VERY clean - plenty of mismatching cups, plates etc which added to the charm of the environment. Fridges etc where available if you needed cold storage (owners risk). TV had 3 sofas for viewing, PC's with WWW available at cost. Plenty of seating outside for eating which is all under cover. Eco recycle easy to locate (wonderful).
BBQ area very clean and available - could be close to some rooms if their windows are open.
Our room was very good value for money - very clean and ccomfortable - no zzzz sounds from the groups in attached rooms - very warm at night and not too hot in the evenings. Bunks are the method of sleep so WATCH YOUR HEAD! Very comfortable.
Room had only one power point which was NOT easy to use as its behind the bunkbed. Only one lightsource in the room so you will not be reading in bunkbed. One chair and table inside to use for writing with outside sunlight.
Food outlet across the road or visit the Pepper Tree in the township for a WONDERFUL meal and hospitality.
I would stay here again without any hesitation, if you have children its perfect. My cup of tea just perfect.

This park is clean and has all the basics a camper could want. The rear corner kitchen is well-stocked with utensils and has a bit of a homey feel to it; the idiosyncratic collection of toilets and showers in this same building are fine. There is also nice outdoor seating, at least some of it sheltered, as well as indoor tables and even a fireplace. If you're looking for a wilderness experience, or even one with a bit of shrubbery, this probably isn't it, but it is easy to walk into town for a bite to eat. Our tent site was in the corner, looking out into a suburban neighborhood. While there is a limit on noise in the park after 10, the same is not true for the teenagers who were partying at a nearby home. All in all, it was fine for a one-night stopover, but I don't think I'd plan a longer stay here.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. and outlining the attractive location of the park, only 5 minutes walk to restaurants and cafes and central to all attractions. I apologize for the residential noise and would have been more than happy to deal with this had it been reported or had we heard it . Many of our guest are extending their stay at our Coromandel top 10 and enjoying the heated pool and renovated tv lounge while capturing the views of the native Coromandel ranges.
We hope you enjoyed your time in New Zealand.

This seemed to be the only place available within our price range, and we dreaded the very basic facilities offered. The cabin has one light in the middle of the ceiling for a double bed with two bunks above it, a single power point and a small table and chair. A communal shower, toilet and kitchen are nearby.
Even so we greatly enjoyed our stay, with plenty of friendly conversation with adjoining guests.
It is a family-oriented holiday park, with gates closing 10pm - 6am.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
Hint: The big bouncy cushion is not just for children. It is excellent exercise for older people whose joints are starting to freeze up

We took a deluxe 1 bedroom motel unit for 2 nights. The motel units comprised a block of 3 units sited between the bouncing pillow and the swimming pool. Inside was as pictured on web page. Large living kitchen area with queen bed and separate bedroom with 2 single beds. Shower and bathroom. Kitchen with window overlooking bouncing pillow had microwave two hot plates and full sized fridge/freezer. A bench with chairs provided eating area whilst two seat settee and arm chair completed lounge seating in front of large LCD TV. A smaller LCD TV was in the bedroom. Plenty of room for us two but might be busy with 4. Car parking outside sliding glass door across from swimming pool and back door access to patio with park table and chairs overlooking the bouncing pillow.
Easy 10 minute walk right into the restaurant area of the township. A pub across the way with pleasant beer garden as well as sit down restaurant was really convenient. The glass doors in the motel to the carpark limited privacy unless the blinds were drawn which made it dark. Fortunately it was a quiet time and privacy was not too much of an issue. But we thought for $252 NZD with membership discount for the 2 nights it was very good value. Manager was really helpful with advice on local attractions.

from day 1 we had a smell in our basic cabin number 12. There is a sign that says "for safety reasons please leave a window open at night" ... hmm we thought - recently fumigated maybe??

We asked the question and they had not been recently fumigated. We were told, that the sign was there because it can get hot at night in the cabins (maybe the sign should say "for your comfort, keep a window open".. however the window is right next to the lock on the door and anyone can easily access your room, day or night.

then at 10pm, it was party time for other guests right outside our cabin. The cabins are way too close to the kitchen facilities and outside BBQ, entertainment area - there were other BBQs, and kitchen facilities situated around the camp, but everyone for some reason always gravitated to the area closest to the basic cabins. As we had a 5am start the next morning. I waited until after 11pm before ringing the staff. The staff quickly amended the situation, and explained to the other guests that it is requested that no noise to be made after 10pm.

2nd night - still had a smell in our cabin and we were given a can of neutraliser spray - we still woke up during the night and got wiffs of the smell. then 2am more people arrived to party outside our cabin and have a late night BBQ.

3rd day before dinner, we complained about the smell again and now ants had come into the cabin. Trevor came and sprayed the ants and sprayed the cabin with a floral fragrance and told us that will sort it all out and he could not smell anything. He was not willing to see about shifting us to another cabin, as they were fully booked... so i guess it will a 3rd night in the smell - now smelling more like stale vomit :(

will not stay here again - and will not recommend to anyone

Room Tip: don't choose a basic cabin if you want sleep

Good Morning.
Your choose of cabin for your stay was the standard cabin, these cabins are small and open out onto a cobbled court yard. They are within 5 meters of the facility block. On a sunny beautiful Coromandel day these are the perfect choice, unfortunately the weekend you were here we had drizzle for 2-3 days. We also have a great choice of other accommodation including en suite units and deluxe cabins that face out onto the pool and jumping pillow.
Thank you for your mention of the interior sign, i will amend this.
I am not sure what the smell is contributed to but we will certainly be investigating this on your departure this morning and i am sorry that the measures our staff took were unacceptable and i am also sorry that we were not able to up grade you as we were fully booked.
Should you wish to pop up to the office before your departure this am i would like to offer you some compensation for your stay.
Management have strict rules on noise after 10pm and each night our security staff complete a 10pm round to ensure this. We have security available by phone 24 hours a day and this is well advertised throughout the park. If we are not alerted to a situation then we are not able to manage this. Thank you for taking the time during your stay to place your review, we are able to pull something positive out of all situations.

We decided on the spur of the moment to spend the last two days of our New Zealand vacation in Coromandel. This was the only place with space and we booked a deluxe cabin. It was very clean and well-kept. Bathrooms and showers were kept spotless. The park managers were so nice and helpful! Short walk into town for cafés or groceries. Good deal!

Thank you for your review, our deluxe cabins are proving to be very popular with the extension on the decks. It is always nice to here great comments about our staff, they all work really hard to maintain the standard of our park.
Thank you and we hope to see you again at the Coromandel TOP 10.
