“Convenient if travelling with a large family otherwise nothing too special”
Reviewed 27 December 2009

This holiday park provides adequate facilities when travelling with a large family via their Motel units. Holiday park was in good proximity to town (just a 5 minute walk to closest grocery dairy) and in general met our needs.

Facilities for kids to play with were nice however are more suitable for 3-4 year olds on up. We have a 18 month old toddler and the jungle gym along with the trampoline were not suitable for him as they were geared towards older children. The holiday park provides a clean pool for kids to play in however it was too cold for us to have a splash around (don't believe the pool is heated).

We booked one of the biggest units they have on offer so that all the family can stay under one roof however it had a few down sides. For instance it was close to the road so the road noise was slightly annoying (but we got used to it and didn't think much of it). The room with the bunk beds was right next to the kitchen that was supposed to be closed at 10pm however with people milling around and chatting late into the night we had a difficult time falling asleep since the wall was basically just tin. The self contained kitchen was nice however TV lounge had a rather small television for the kids.

In retrospect, the one thing that annoyed about booking with this facility is that even though they had a membership card on offer ($40 to join) they didn't point it out or suggest we join. In the case of our stay (3 days at nearly $200 NZD per night) we could have saved 10% of the total cost which would have paid for the membership fee and put $20 back in our pockets.

Overall the holiday park met our needs with nothing overly negative or positive to report.

Coromandel town is a really great place, the shops and food where really good. However dont stay at the following place.... Coromanndel Holiday Park - 636 Rings Road, Coromandel Town. It's run by the most obnoxious man ever !! He doesnt like people to gather round the BBQ area later than 8pm and comes and tells you to go back to your tent or go down the road..He is very un-freindly towards people....take my advice stay at the Hot water beach!!!
