“Good home base for discovery the peninsula”
Reviewed 2 December 2012

Hosts:
Denise and Malcolm are very, very nice and open minded hosts and have a lot of outstanding recommendations about the area (beaches, lookouts, hikes, trips...). We had very good discussions with all people (hosts and other guests) in the house and enjoyed our stay very much.

House:
The house is located in walking distance to the township of Coromandel. The two level house has three bed rooms - two on the upper and one on the basement. All rooms are cozy and appropriate and the bathrooms are modern style. All guests have a shared guest lounge with a kitchenette. We stayed in the basement room and had our own terrace. In this room you may be impacted by the traffic. For us early birds is was no problem.

Breakfast:
The hosts prepared home-made muesli, fresh fruits, fresh rhubarb jam, toast and eggs in all styles, different sausages and cheeses.

Located a few hundred metres outside the centre but an easy walk. Great friendly hosts, very knowledgeable about the area and made some good recommendations for our drive the next day.

Large breakfast with lots of home made produce.

Rooms immaculately clean and tidy and our room (the upper deck) had a huge wet-room style bathroom. Really quiet. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All great rooms.

Denise and Malcom, our hosts, were ever so helpful and gave us great tips, what to do and where to go, especially because we just had one full day to spend at the Coromandel Peninsula. Breakfast was really fantastic, we got everything we wanted and needed, from scrumbled eggs to yoguhrt, cheese, ham, salam, jam, fruits, coffee, juice.....
The electric blankets were one of the highlights, and the views are superb, shortly after our arrival we've seen the Most amazing Rainbow from our own balcony. Everything was very clean, we got lovely chocolate and cake...what can I say? It's actually our Honeymoon, which we didn't tell them, and still we felt spoiled.
Thanks so much, Denise and Malcom;-)))

Great location, very comfortable room and well appointed, excellent breakfast and great company. I loved the 'extra' touches of the afternoon tea waiting for us and the chocolates by the bed. Just what we needed - a few days away to relax and see a little more of NZ. Thank you Malcolm and Denise. I recommend this place.

We stayed for three nights in March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite some wet & windy weather.
The hosts are very welcoming, very friendly and can provide a wealth of information on local attractions and places to visit.
The bedroom & bathroom we had was very well appointed (we were given an upgrade to the room with the decking balcony) with everything you could think of supplied. Although the bedroom was a little small, there is a shared guest lounge with TV, PC, tea & coffee making facilities, free scones, comfortable sofas, seaviews, book swap, games ....!
The breakfast is excellent, with Malcolm doing eggs and fish to order.
The town restaurants are 5-10 minutes walk away and Coromandel township itself is not at all spoilt by the tourist trade and has retained its character.

This is an extremely well appointed B&B run by Denise and Malcolm who are friendly and helpful hosts. We stayed in the Seascape room which has good quality furnishings and furniture but is rather limited on floor space. However, it does have a private hallway between the bedroom and the shower room where you can leave your suitcases. Be aware that there is no TV in the room or drink making facilities, although there is a shared guest lounge with TV, computer, kitchenette and leather settees situated upstairs between two guest rooms.

Breakfast is taken in the hosts’ kitchen and all the guests sit together at one table. Denise is willing to wash clothes for you and complimentary wifi is available. Denise and Malcolm appear very keen to please their guests and are always willing to chat.

Seascape room overlooks the main road and although I am not usually disturbed easily I was woken at about 4am by a very heavy sounding lorry. As I couldn’t return to sleep for about 1 ½ hrs, I took to counting vehicles and counted 22. This would not deter me from returning to the Green House and booking Seascape, but if you are normally a light sleeper it may be prudent to consider booking a room at the back of the house.

Recently had a quick weekend away from Auckland in the Coromandel. Staying with Denise and Malcolm was a pleasure, they were so welcoming with a B&B in a great location.

Bedroom and bathroom were finished to a very high quality, and everything was spotless.
Breakfast was fantastic, a blend of locally sourced meats and cheese complemented with an array of homemade goodies including jam made with fruit from the garden, home baked bread, yoghurt and some home grown fresh fruit.

The little touches made the difference - cheese muffins when we arrived were welcome, and helpful pointers on where to go with the time we had were invaluable.
