Ian, the host of this haven on the quiet west coast of the Coromandel, was most helpful and friendly on the several occasions we either asked advice or service.
The site is situated on the coastline with a very child friendly beach which is also of interest to the ornithological or simply the nature lover.
Easy striking distance of the east coast if you need shopping or people but most important is the land to the North. Spectacular !.
Highly recommended.

We almost didn't stay here after reading a review on a different site but we decided to book and see for ourselves. We were tenting and only staying for one night. From the point of booking over the phone till we left we found management and staff friendly and helpful facilities clean and grounds tidy. We extended our stay by an extra night. Fishing was slow but the Diving was awesome.

If you want a great Snapper/Kingfish fishing experience there is plenty of variety available around Coromandel township.
There is a great experience to be had whether fishing the Mussel Farms, fishing from the processing boats, Kayak fishing or half-day fishing on an 18 foot tinny or a larger launch.
The manager Ian has plenty of very good fishing contacts and can point you in the right direction.
We found the Shelly Beach Top 10 a quiet relaxing place to stay and use as a base whilst undertaking 3 or 4 days exciting fishing.

Second year tenting - kids love the jumping pillow - beach - only seeing them when they were hungry - nice and relaxing time for all - close to waterworks, town and boat ramp.
Friendly staff - games for the kids - awesome time for all

Third year we have used Shelley Beach. Use a tent site. Find it quite and relaxing but still close to Coromandel. It is great for the kids, safe with plenty to do. The camp organises games for kids to do which they enjoy. Friendly service with a smile or joke. Nothings a problem. Highly recommend. Amenities are clean and tidy.

My family and I stayed over the Christmas period, went fishing and caught heaps of snappers which were quite big as well!! Recommended if you want a quiet holiday, away from the bustling city madness. The little inlet of Shelly Beach is beautiful, especially at sunset where most guests come to watch.
