Ate here twice - all meals very substantial and well cooked. Pub style atmosphere. Friendly service. Would certainly eat her again

A little disappointed the kitchen was out of some pretty basic ingredients. Waitress was friendly but a little inexperienced.

The stonegrill concept is one that seems to be growing in popularity - basically, you have a very hot stone and a slab of meat/fish that you cook on the stone at your table. Seems like a pretty good deal for the kitchen, as they just need to supply the accompanying potatoes and salad.

In practice, it was a quite a fun experience, with good quality meat, seasoned just right and freshly prepared side dishes. We tried the surf & turf (which was a rump steak and two skewers of prawns) and the lamb rump.

Both the beef and the lamb were of good quality - tender and flavoursome. I prefer my steaks medium to rare, and was nervous that they would overcook on the stone by the time I finshed the meal, but the cuts were thick enough that it remained rare to the end - if you want your steak cooked more, the waitress suggested cutting thin slices to cook quicker on the stone.

A very simple meal, fair value for money, but a tasty and enjoyable experience.

We were there on a Friday night when the bar downstairs was fairly busy. Having looked at the menu which was very inviting we decided to try the restaurant. Our main courses were excellent - the mussels was a large portion with a lovely sauce, and the hot stone seafood plate was amazing with mussels, scallops and prawns. We ordered one of the shared seafood platters for a starter - oysters, prawns, mussels and scallops all sounded very enticing, however when it came the whole lot was battered! When such great, fresh local seafood is available, battering it just seems a waste. Service was average - we were seated and our order was taken very quickly, however then waited more than 20 minutes for drinks to arrive. Food was equally slow to arrive and the whole experience took over 2 hours, when there were maybe 20 people in the restaurant in total. However our waitress was apologetic and the staff were friendly.
