When we started our walk to Kea Point it was misting and breezy, by the time we got there it was raining sideways and blowing really hard, and it was totally worth it. You can get a pretty good view of the hanging glaciers up on the mountain and the icebergs down in the lake are neat also. If it's nice, there are benches to sit on and a couple little signs explaining things. As we were leaving we got to hear and see the hanging glaciers up on the mountain calving which was a pretty awesome experience.

Avalanches coming off Mt Sefton. Views of the Mueller Glacier lake. You can walk from the 21st century into the Pliocene in an hour.

Easy walk for 2 moderately fit 50 something's (well ok one is 60). Only took an hour there and back but take sunscreen and insect repellant. You will love the views.

It takes about half an hour gentle uphill walking from the car park at the end of the valley to reach the Kea Point look out. From here there are a couple of seats to sit back and enjoy stunning views of Aoraki/Mt Cook if the sky is clear. It is possible to carry on for about another ten minutes for a slightly different angle for photographs, but the track soon peters out.

If you arrive late in the day at Mt Cook village and the sky is clear pop up here for the views in case the following day is overcast. You may well find the snows on the summit of Mt Cook will twinge red as it gets close to sunset giving beautiful photographic opportunities.

I feel this is a must do for walking enthusiast. You need to be moderately fit. Not a difficult walk at all. On a clear day, you can see Mount Cook. I went there on a cloudy day in January, expected a clear day. But had everything, cloudy, clearing up, with snow-peaked mount cook, rain and hail. Everything in one day. I didnot complete the entire walk, it started to rain heavy and had to take my walk back. But the sun reflecting on the snow peaked mount cook was awesome. Just amazing.. try this..
