“A memorable honeymoon in Paradise”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

I spent 8 nights at this magnificent property, having the longest water deck and water villas. The view from the sky is amazing. The view on the ground is amazing.Turquoise blue water, luxury villas, great food and more than 800 wine brands to accommodate your romantic dinners by the beach. The maldives might be known for honeymooners. At no time we felt that the island was crowded. The service is impeccable and the staff concerns is only to pamper you and make your stay unforgettable. Among many activities I tired also the cooking class, Pastry Chef Pascal Galette will teach you fantastic recipes. The calm and peacefulness of the place makes this place unique and we feel privileged to have been there.

Room Tip: Choose the Over water villas and enjoy the view of the sunset. Prefer the rooms to the west.

Οur honeymoon was an integral part of the wedding preparations and we tried to find the best location that would satisfy our standards, which were very high indeed. After a search throughout half of the world, we ended up choosing the Halaveli Resort for 10 nights in mid September. The overall impression is that if Heaven really exists, then it must be like Halaveli. As simple as that.

You start to realise what you will get from the moment you step out from the plane and are directed to the Halaveli Lounge: it looks as the entrance to a Spa; relaxing atmosphere, smell of lemongrass everywhere and a selection of food and beverages for getting started after a long and tiring flight. The staff is so kind and willing to help.

After a short seaplane trip of about 20min we got to the resort area where Bertrand and the rest of the staff were expecting us for a warm welcome. Rachel then kindly gave us a tour of the island and directed us to our water villa. The villas are indeed superb: very spacious, comfortable and equipped with anything necessary to make it an unforgettable stay. The highlight is definitely the plunge pool which gives the opportunity to enjoy relaxing and revitalizing moments in your privacy.

We took the HB package, so we had breakfast and dinner at one of the restaurants. We think it is really worth it, since otherwise it would be 100$/person to have dinner. The buffet was rich and with lots of varieties and changes every night. It is our strong belief that the “Seafood buffet” is by far the best of all thematic dinner nights. We also had a private dinner in the sea (!), where we enjoyed oriental flavours for nearly 4 hours.

In terms of activities, my wife was oriented mainly towards the spa services, whereas I took the opportunity to explore Maldives underwater world. The Spa is highly professional and the services provided do live up to everyone’s expectations. The Diving Centre is very well organized and I think that nobody should miss on the opportunity to exploit the offered programs if a certified diver or take a course.

But, foremost, what makes Halaveli stand out from any other resorts we have been in – and they are many! – is its people:

- Samad, who was in charge of housekeeping in our villa, did an incredible job by solving any problems we had (he even gave us his own camera battery charger, since I forgot mine at home!) and being as creative as possible, ranging from heart-shaped sheets to towel puppies! Every time we got back in the room, a different surprise was there for us!

- Ibrahim (aka Didi), as our waiter always took care of us by choosing the best table available and creating a romantic atmosphere. We were impressed by the breadth of his lingual capabilities – German, Italian, Japanese, English and, of course, Greek!

- Sathia, our sommelier, always chose the best wine for us! Thank you for the wonderful tour in the wine cellar!

- Natalie at the diving centre is one of the most cheerful and vibrant persons on the island, but also an excellent professional and dive master. We did five dives together and were excited to find out that she is befriended with almost all underwater creatures – especially sea turtles!

Last, but nonetheless not least, comes Bertrand who is always there for all the guests, making sure that nothing will ruin our stay. Special thanks to you Bertrand and Andras Biro for the last minute arrangements regarding our departure to Male! We had a great time!

Overall, we highly recommend Halaveli to anyone who would like to spend a few moments in paradise! Elegance indeed comes naturally in this place...

Best regards,

Stayed at the fantastic Constance Halaveli Resort in November 2011 for our Honeymoon, We arrived at Male international once the sea planes had stopped flying for the day so needed to stay at Male for the night, thank god we booked through Atoll Paradise and they had a staff member waiting for us he checked us in to a hotel room carried luggage and paid for the ferry he picked us up the next morning and took us to the Constance Halaveli Resort airport lounge which was fantastic gave us a taste of what we were in for offering drinks, food and free internet also a nice outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy the scenery of seaplanes landing and taking off.

Apron arrival at Constance Halaveli we were offered fresh towel and refreshing drinks, but then were disappointed being asked to wait 1 hour for our room to be ready while everyone else we had come off the sea plane with was checked in and ready to go so not a good start we were hoping a on the house lunch or drinks at the bar due to lack of service and having to wait for our room but nothing was offered,

We then finally got into our room via golf buggy which was fun the drivers were heaps on fun and had lots to tell if you wanted to listen the room was fantastic just as the pictures iPod dock free wifi Nespresso machine along with Capsules/tea bed was huge room was huge the plunge pool was amazing so thankfully the room made up for our disappointment.

The breakfast buffet was fantastic such a big viarity best I have ever seen, Jing was very disappointing with the food dinner was not the best I would have expected a bigger option being 5 star so not your money's worth there the in room restaurant was probably the best they had at the resort which is sad to say.

Other than this it's a great scenery fantastic room perfect for honeymoon as the resort was not overfilled with other guest

Our biggest dissapointment with the 5star resort was the fact that not one staff member said Happy Honeymoon nothing was done for us for our honeymoon even though it was noted that we were their for our honeymoon I would think that being honeymooners you would at least get a congratulations or somewhat from staff so it was far from personal Atoll paradise had organized champaign for us along with spa vouchers at 50%.

Loved Maldives but would defiantly go to another resort next time

Room Tip: Over Water with Plunge pool left wide from pier more privacy

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your honeymoon experience with other Trip Advisor readers. We highly value the feedback from all of our guests, which assists us to continually improve all facets of our resort.

Please allow me to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay in your villa being ready. Your feedback has been addressed to our Housekeeping and Front Office teams for further improvement in this area. However, I am happy to read that the luxuriousness and tranquility of the villa and its state-of-the-art entertainment system made up for this.

It is also a pleasure to see that you enjoyed the fine cuisine offered at our breakfast buffet and that the wide variety was able to satisfy both of your tastes. In addition, I have noted that you found our Jing restaurant to be less satisfying and have brought this to the attention of our Executive Chef and team.

Halaveli prides itself on delivering friendly and personalized service and I am sorry to learn that our team failed to meet your expectations in this regard. Please allow me to reassure you that this is not typical of the Halaveli service standards, as we take the utmost pride in having the honour of creating unforgettable memories that celebrate our guest's most precious events. I have since raised this point with all of our team members to ensure that no special details of our guests is overlooked.

On behalf of the entire Halaveli team, thank you again for your constructive feedback and on your next visit to the Maldives we would be privileged to have the opportunity to welcome you both back.

As a CEO and owner of a Norwegian travel agency, weI had done a thorough research while planning our honeymoon trip and had great expectations. My expectations were not only met, but they went beyond what we'de hope to experience at Halaveli Resort.

Prior to our stay on Halaveli we had been on a round trip in India where we had stayed at the luxurious Oberoi hotels in every city we visited. We came to the Maldives already spoiled and pampered with luxury in India. Upon our arrival at the airport at Male we were brought to Halaveli's private, and very comfertable lounge, while waiting for the departure of the sea plane. We had a few hours wait there, but luckily we were served some food and drinks.

On the arrival at Halaveli we were met by a few members of the staff, served a cold drink and escorted to our water villa by a golf car. We were totally amazed by the colors of the azur sea and the bright white sand. Our water villa was tasty, luxurious and romantic. I was everything we had been dreaming of. We had villa nr 84 which was perfect because we had privacy and tranquility, although it took some time to walk to the island. The maritime life outside our villa was breath taking. We saw fishes in all colors including sharks while we were enjoing a glass of wine in our plunge pool.

The restaurants at the resorts were of high quality. There are three of them. The buffet restaurant had one of the best and most varied buffets we have ever come across. They had different themes every night of the week. The restaurant Jing was excellent, the food there was outstanding and the somalier had a cool wine cellar. The restaurant on the beach was quiet and nice with only a few tables. The buffet restaurant has also a fantastic French somalier and a great wine cellar.

The gym facilities and the staff working there was high quality, we had much pleasure of using the tennis court and the indoor gym.
The resort alo offers a wide range of excursions and activities such as sailing, diving and snorkeling. We also enjoyed the spa facilities. Expensive but very good quality.

The staff were amazing and the managing director Renato puts an extra touch to the whole Halaveli experience for many of the guests. To us, he and his wife became like friends.

having stayed at many top luxury hotels and resorts around, we can confirm this resort as the best we have ever stayed at!
We would defenetly like to return to this paradise resort!!
thanks again to all the staff!

As a ''young'' elderly couple my wife and I have recently spent the most magical holiday in an island of paradise. The diredct flight from London was helpful and getting to and from the Island by seaplane was a very enjoyable experience.

From the moment we arrived in the Maldives the staff of this resort could not have been more helpful and friendly and the whole operation was a seamless process. At all times they were attentive, it was clear they had done their homework and in my proffessional opinion would win any Hotel Courtesy & Care Award.
I was impressed the way the staff maintained eye contact and their smiles were infectious. Many different nationalities are employed here and it was a pleasure to engage in conversation (all speak excellent English and many other languages) and learn something of their culture and thinking.

The Island is small and idyllic. You can be as energetic or as laid back as you want.

The food is stunning--Exec Chef Glen Cooper and his team are fantastic--some meals border Michellen standard and are very creative--the quality and variety of food is sensational. Try the Yellow Fin Tuna or the Australian Beef and the Sweets and Cheese Selection is to die for.

The Wine Selection is also amazing, if a little expensive, but then it is the Maldives, the Sommeliers are proffessional and very friendly with a great sense of humour.

The Bar on the beach is OK especially at night but could do, in my opinion with a major refurbishment--its OK but a bit dull.

The Spa is as you would expect--friendly & proffessional and great fun once you get talking to them.

The amenities are perfect with the Alexis & his team in the Dive Centre excelling---the varities and the colours of fish you will see are simple stunning---nothing is too much trouble for them.

The Water Villas are seclusion itself--beautifully decorated with all the facilities you would expect of such a high standard resort--perhaps the lighting in the bathroom could be better for ladies and their make-up but otherwise no complaints at all--and because the Jetty to the villas is so long then the Golf Buggy Service (quite excellent) can be a God Send!

All in all we had a great holiday--met some lovely people and have some great memories--we would definetly return and would recommend it to others.

Congratulations to Constance Halaveli and to Jane Zollo my Travel Councellor who recommend them to us.

I would also like to thank you for mentioning our Executive Chef, he is so gifted and the comment from you is even more valuable.

It was inspiring to have met you. We sincerely hope our path will cross again in the near future. The Halaveli Team and myself, will be extremely happy to welcome you back soon.

My husband and I just returned from this beautiful, tranquil and perfect paradise, and I am still feeling the withdrawal symptoms.Everything about this place is discreet understated luxury. The service is warm and genuine - everyone seems genuinely interested in you and your welfare. Conversation is always personal and concerned but never overfamiliar.....always there are little touches of pampering, from the cute little treats by your bedside during the turn down service, to the artful flower arrangements on your bed...(one evening it was a sting ray!!)
Food was spectacular and most importantly so very prompt, (this is with regards to the in villa dining). The food would magically appear at precisely the appointed time! In the evenings, we would have the buffet - which was incredible too.....the Japanese buffet was so authentic and incredibly lavish....from a vast array of sushi, to cod in miso soup, to teppanyaki, tempura, udon, soba, and even green tea creme brulee!!! Bad (or good enough) to bust anyone's diet.
I have to make special mention of Ayu, my Balinese masseuse during my stay...her fingers were pure magic and she was delightful too. i LOVED the spa.....everything was lemon grass scented...the toiletries, the steam bath.....And the outdoor jacuzzis (you get a hot or cold one to suit your preferance) are overlooking the ocean....and if you like, you can climb the ladder down for a sea bath too!!! The attention to detail is simply amazing.....from the jugs of water placed in the changing rooms, to the choice of teas when you have finished your treatments, to the buggy's that appear to bring you back when finished....
As for the diving - never have dives been so pampering. Never mind that the dives were great, the journey and the process were so luxurious....from the cool scented face towels that were presented after the dives, the fresh water shower on the deck, the tiled lavatory on the boat(!)....and the beverages, fruit and muffins served whilst on board!!! My dive master (Antonio) was competent, experienced and patient....plus he was very funny too....he told me he made sure he "had made reservations with the sharks" so that I could see them!! And see them we did!!!
Our sea plane transfer was thoughtfully arranged as close as possible to our departure time from Male.....all in all, it was bliss....

First of all…WOW! We could not have picked a more wonderful place to conclude our honeymoon! My husband and I visited during the end of July 2012 and stayed for 7 nights following on from a busy and hectic week in Thailand. We wanted somewhere we could totally relax, enjoy beautiful and luxurious surroundings and have first class service. We got all of these things and more until the moment we left.

We arrived by seaplane onto a jetty in the sea before transferring to speedboat to the island. Several members of staff greeted us, who took us to reception where we were given a gorgeous drink & cool towel to freshen up. Before arriving in the Maldives, we had requested water villa 90 that was at the very end of the jetty (sunset side), which was kindly honoured. We were taken initially in a golf cart following a tour of the island (which you could request to pick up & drop off every day) but we enjoyed the 15 min walk.

The villa was absolutely stunning; there was nothing at all we could fault (and we tried very hard to! Everything we could possibly need for an amazing stay in the Maldives. A complimentary bottle of sparkling wine awaited us, which was a nice touch and after drinking this we went straight out onto our private deck with plunge pool! We had superb privacy being the very last villa and it wasn’t very often that any snorkelers swam past our way at all. Our villa was replenished twice daily by a lovely man (wish I could remember his name) who always went out of his way to make everything as perfect as possible. This included a turn down service of an evening and the best bit were the various sweet treats that awaited us on our bedside each night! The entertainment facilities were brilliant, with the wifi, amazing long list of films & TV it meant we could keep in touch with everybody back home (showing off our amazing villa) and also chill and watch a film (on the one bad afternoon of weather we had or of an evening once we had got back to the villa). The mini bar was also great (expensive as expected) but this didn’t stop us from our daily treat of the beers & chocolate! We got different fruit each day too along with fresh water, and the ice bucket was topped up twice a day, which was essential! The sleep/awake eye sign was also lovely by the front door rather than the classic ‘do not disturb! Just remember to turn it to ‘awake’ when you go for breakfast of a morning if you want your room replenished, as no one will disturb you all day haha!

The service we received from all staff was fabulous around the resort. After 2 days of ordering room service for lunch, guest services knew exactly what we both liked including the bits I didn’t want (I can be silly fussy). In the buffet restaurant, staff also remembered where we liked to sit (not always the same staff either) and what we liked to drink. You never actually had to refill your glass once…the staff were topping up anything you had before you even had chance to notice. It was all these little touches that really made a difference. We never walked past a member of staff without receiving a smile and ‘hello’ and nothing was too much trouble. We definitely felt we left more as friends than guests. We particularly would like to thank the general manager Renato W. Chizzola who first introduced himself when we arrived in reception. He bumped into us several times during our stay enquiring if everything was okay and actually remembered us as people rather than just guests. It was lovely to see a manager actually taking so much time within a resort, constantly mingling with guests and other staff members that I am sure he didn’t have to do. When we left all the staff blew us away, including Renato who waved us off as we flew away in our seaplane. It was a lovely ending to our honeymoon.

We opted for half board for our stay so enjoyed the buffet most evenings, which had a different theme every night. It was far better than any ‘buffet’ meal I have ever had, and other than getting up and helping yourself we wouldn’t have ever known it was a buffet. The standard of food was beautiful and you could see the passion clearly from the chefs who were serving it. I particularly loved the wide range of gorgeous desserts they always had on offer! We dined at Meeru twice during our stay (once inside on one side of the buffet restaurant due to threatening rain) and we much preffered this! The night we sat out on the beach under the stars was breath taking and the food was out of this world (there was a $55 discount pp as we stayed half board). I wish I could learn to make the chocolate dessert we had here…oh my goodness! We didn’t dine at Jing unfortunately although we did enjoy a few cocktails on the deck one evening that was amazing! Our only tiny tiny disappointment (which we could clearly see was uncontrollable) was the absence of Prosecco during our stay, which we would of loved with our meal each evening. We have recently become very fond of it, so it was a shame. We did switch it for another bottle of sparkling and although gorgeous it was a lot more expensive haha! Very nice though!

We received complimentary snorkeling equipment for the duration of our stay, which had to be returned the day before departure. We used it whilst in the villa as we didn’t venture out much but there were a great variety of water sports, diving etc to do! We did spend one afternoon in the spa and had a ‘skin to within’ experience that was amazing…very relaxing!

We were staying on a half board basis, and included were breakfast (with drinks) and dinner (without drinks). We didn’t do any excursions or buy any souvenirs and we spent about $1100, which covered our lunches, snacks from the minibar and drinks. I think on 1 day we didn’t have a ‘proper’ lunch instead snacking on fruit we had brought from breakfast and snacks we had within the room. We had done our research so knew we would be spending about this much so weren’t shocked or surpised. What we did realise was how difficult it must actually be to import all of the food/drink first to the main island and then get it to all the resorts hence the price. They also have daily ‘fogging’ of the island during early evening and I didn’t get bitten once!

On our departure day, our flight back to Manchester was an evening one. We had our villa all day up until 3pm at which point we were picked up by golf cart who took our luggage and us to reception. We received another refreshing drink & cool towel and were shown to a fabulous air-conditioned lounge with complimentary drinks & snacks whilst we awaited our departure back to Male by seaplane. As mentioned earlier in the review, when leaving the island we were waved off by several members of staff, including the general manager which was a lovely touch to end our stay.

Overall everything about Halaveli was perfect and we couldn’t have topped it with anywhere else. It was a perfect honeymoon location and we loved it. We could not recommend it highly enough to anyone thinking of coming here and have raved about it continuously to all of our friends and family! If you are looking to come to an amazing place, full of wonderful friendly staff who are looking to make your experience totally unforgettable then come to Halaveli! I have my fingers crossed that one day we will be able to return!
