I will begin by saying that no matter how much praise I give Constance Halaveli, it will never be enough to fully capture how wonderful it is.

My husband and I knew we wanted to go somewhere tropical for our honeymoon and were both intrigued by the Maldives, even though we knew it would be a longgg trek from Vancouver, Canada. Nonetheless, we decided it was a once in a lifetime trip and that now was the time to do it. We researched different resorts on TripAdvisor endlessly for weeks, when we finally came across Constance Halaveli. What initially captured our attention about this resort was the spacious water villas and the private pool, which many other resorts didn't offer. We decided to take a gamble and book it not realizing what a goldmine we had come across.

When we first arrived in Male (the capital city), we were immediately transported to the Constance lounge, where we would wait until a seaplane was ready to pick us up. The lounge was beautiful, with tropical decor, free wifi, and a buffet of food and drinks. Unfortunately, there was a delay in seaplane arrival that day so our stay in the lounge was almost 3 hours, but the Halaveli staff was very accommodating and offered to make us a hot lunch because of the long delay, even though it was not their fault.

Once the seaplane came, we were immediately transported to our island, which took about 40 minutes. Personally, even though there is beautiful scenery along the way, I did not enjoy the sea plane as it is very tight, lacks air conditioning, and smells like gasoline. But, since this is the only way to get to our island, I would say it's well worth it!

My first impressions of the island are unforgettable. You see a lot of pictures while you're doing your research, but nothing compares to the feeling you get when you see the white sandy beach, crystal clear water and tall palm trees in person. It truly is like no other place on Earth! We were immediately greeted by the Halaveli management team when we landed and then given a tour of the island via golf cart. The island is a nice size, and has everything you would need: a gym, children's area, gift shop, a beach bar, three restaurants, a diving centre, a water sport centre, etc. I would say that it's a great choice for people who plan on spending most of their time there to relax (eg: honeymooners) over those who are craving a lively party atmosphere as you would get in Cancun, etc.

Our favourite part of the resort was our fabulous water villa #83! We were the last water villa on the odd side meaning we had the most amazing sunset view unobstructed by everything else. The villas are HUGE and have every ammenity you could dream of: huge shower, big bathtub overlooking the ocean, double sinks, double walk-in closets, a huge comfortable bed, flatscreen TV, ipod dock, endless movies on demand, music, books and a huge deck with two loungers under a large umbrella, an infinity pool and a small table for outdoor dining. We spent most of our vacation in the privacy of our own villa since it had everything we needed and more. Although it was about a 15 minute walk to the island from our villa, it was very easy to call reception and have a cart come and pick us up. Reception was very helpful and would do just about anything you asked of them. You never felt helpless at Constance Halaveli! The cleanliness of the room was immaculate and the room was tidied up twice a day for your comfort. We had an amazing room boy named Faiz who always ensured we were taken care of......his presentation of the room was amazing and we always knew when we had been to clean.

In terms of activities, I was satisfied with the variety, while others who are more into water sports may not be. We tried snorkelling a few times, which was fun, but we didn't get to see too many sea creatures since the current was quite strong. Snorkelling equipment was free to rent from the diving centre. All non-motorized water sports like paddle boating and kayaking were also free to rent, which were fun activities. Additionally, excursions were also offered a few times a day for additional costs. We went on the sunset cruise (AMAZING if it's a clear day), star-gazing cruise (also amazing on a clear day) and the dolphin cruise. All of those excursions took place on the same dhoni boat and became a bit repetitive after a while, even though they were all fun. I would recommend doing one or two only, maybe leaving out the dolphin cruise since you're not even guaranteed to see any (we didn't). There are also many other snorkelling and scuba diving excursions offered, but I can't say much about those since we never tried any. In terms of nightlife, there is no nightclub at Halaveli. We found the island to be quite dead in the evenings, with the exception of the restaurants in the early evening. One of the nights we were there, there was a sunset beach party on the island which was fun, but we found the overall vibe to be newlyweds who were quite happy to just keep to themselves. We also booked a spa treatment...a couples massage....which was amazing. The spa staff are professional and friendly and the whole experience is very enjoyable! Go a little early before your treatment so you can enjoy the hot and cold pools and the steam room.

Let's talk food. All of the restaurants were fantastic. The breakfast buffet at Jahaz everyday was consistently good, but it would have been nice to have a bit more of a change everyday as the menu got a little repetitive. The made to order omelettes were fantastic! We ate at Meeru once and their food was really good as well, catering heavily to meat eaters. Jing, which is the fancier restaurant, is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. We had made reservations for our last evening and requested a table on the patio (which gives you a beautiful view of the water at night). The service was amazing and the food was even better....I highly recommend it for a nice dinner out! Other than that, we found that for lunches, it was very easy to have in-villa dining as it was cost-effective and nice for afternoons when you didn't want to leave the villa. The average cost of a main course in in-villa dining was about $25, and the portions were very generous. They are also very good at accommodating your tastes and you can pretty well ask for anything even if it's not on the menu.

The staff is accomodating on a whole new level. Everyone treats you like family and says hello and calls you by name. They are more than willing to help you with whatever you need and make sure you are comfortable.

The worst part of our vacation was leaving. It was so difficult leaving a place like Halaveli knowing that it might be a while before you come back. Unfortunately, they weren't able to offer us late checkout which we had requested since we had an evening flight, but this is understandable as occupancy is high. However, they did have a waiting lounge for us to wait in, which had snacks, books, computer, wifi, etc. As usual, our seaplane was late, but again, this had nothing to do with Halaveli, as Maldivian Air is an independant company.

Overall, I can't express what a fabulous vacation choice this resort it, especially for a honeymooning couple like us. You get so much privacy that sometimes it feels like no one else is on the island but you. The service is unbelievable and you get treated like royalty. And not to be biased, but I suspect that Halaveli might have the nicest water villas in the Maldives, because I don't see how anything could be better. Well worth the 25 hours of travel to get there!

Room Tip: T odd side water villas are the best option since you get the most privacy and beautiful sunsets. Th...

Moved here from the Moofushi as they were overbooked and asked if we would like to move to the resort.
Was not disappointed. Has a huge and wonderful Beach villa with a plungepool and acres of space and direct access to the beach, the villas are so far apart it felt like a private beach.
Different vibe to the Moofushi, more private and descrete, not so much happening in the bars.
In fact, the bar seemed to only have other people from the Moofushi in them as they were all on an inclusive package - therefore the cost of food and drink not an issue.
Island was beautiful, snorkling didnt seem quite as good as moofushi but everything else top notch. So, if bar with lots of people and good snorkling are important would stay at moofushi, if privacy and room service are what you are after then would go for the Halaveli

Room Tip: all are amazing!

Dear Guest,

Warm and sunny greetings from Constance Halaveli Maldives! Thank you for taking the time to share your review on Trip Advisor with us!

We are pleased to hear that you had the chance to experience our little piece of heaven and that you enjoyed the privacy of one of our beach villas with plunge pool and direct access to the beach. To provide a maximum of privacy to our valued guests is one of our mayor goals here on Halaveli and we are delighted to learn that we succeeded in exceeding our guests’ expectations.

You pointed out correctly that the snorkelling experience on both islands is different, however we have some of the most exciting diving spots close to Halaveli, where you can enjoy the magnificent underwater world of the Maldives!

On behalf of all of us here on Halaveli I would like to thank you again for your wonderful comments and we look forward to welcoming you back in our little paradise soon!

We were recently fortunate enough to be upgraded to the resort having previously been staying at moofushi. Our 3 nights at Halaveli was sheer luxury and the beach villa was incredible. The food is of an exceptionally high standard and a special mention should go to the staff in the beachside bar who were so welcoming and friendly. One small niggle was that we had the garden staff clearing leaves for a whole afternoon around our beach villa whilst we were in our private pool. I would have expected the resort to have planned their garden clearing around when villa's were being vacated or whilst empty.

The snorkelling is limited, the house reef isn't that large, however it quickly becomes clear you don't go to Halaveli to snorkel, you go there to enjoy the luxury of an island that is perfect in almost every way.

Choosing where to go on honeymoon is tricky to say the least, since you want everything to be absolutely perfect for what is likely the most important holiday you will ever book. I work in the travel business and even so did a lot of research. Even choosing what region to visit was hard enough, but for me the Maldives became a clear winner for for sun, sea and sand, an easy flight from Europe with minimal jetlag, and the potential to truly switch-off and relax in idyllic and romantic surroundings. But having decided on the Maldives I was faced with a vast number of wonderful-sounding resorts to choose between.
If you are reading this review you are likely considering the Constance Halaveli for your holiday, perhaps also Honeymoon. I don’t generally write reviews, but reading the thoughts of others on this site was so helpful in making my choice that I decided to add my voice to the many others saying how fantastic Halaveli is.

This resort is in my opinion the perfect size (big enough to have some atmosphere but never feeling crowded, small enough to walk around the island in 20 minutes, but enough beach to always find a place to be completely alone), location (far enough from Male to be out of speedboat range and have unspoiled reefs, but not too long a flight), and most importantly has the balance between being a simple island getaway and luxury resort just right. Many resorts try to be over-the-top cool or luxurious, but what I wanted was a natural island experience with 5-star service behind the scenes to make sure everything was seamless. This is happily what we found at Halaveli and our honeymoon was as perfect as I can imagine.

The airport/transfer operation in Male was seamless and we were taken care of from the moment we stepped out of customs, whisked to the resort’s lounge to have breakfast while waiting for our seaplane. We stayed in a water-villa, which was everything we hoped for. Plenty of space and well thought out, luxurious bedroom and bath looking out to the ocean, complete privacy on the deck and a fantastic plunge pool. During our stay we tried to find time to watch some of the library of movies or surf the internet (nice not to have to worry about being charged extra for these), but it was hard not to spend all our days sunning on the deck, swimming in the sea (nice water depth and snorkeling right by the bungalow) and wallowing in our pool.

From the end of the jetty it is a bit of a walk to the island, but in the evening it is a pleasant stroll and in the heat of the day you can call a golf-cart to pick you up. It’s nice not having to leave for drinks (bottled water and nespresso included and a reasonably priced minibar), but we did drag ourselves out for meals. We had half-board which was great. Not one of those horrible heaving resort buffets, but a pleasant restaurant environment with excellent food and service. The menu varied pleasantly and special diet needs were wonderfully accommodated by the restaurant team who go out of their way to learn your name and preferences. Importantly we felt the wine or drinks were fairly priced – it is nice not to be gouged when a captive audience. For special occasions we visited Jing (which was one of the best meals I have ever had) and Meeru (for a fantastic seafood dinner). The chef and his team do an outstanding job in all the venues. Thanks Holger - it was a most enjoyable way to break the pre-wedding diet! After dinner a drink on the beach under the stars with the waves at your feet is about as perfect as life gets.

We managed to visit the gym (excellent with modern machines), play tennis, go sailing (perfect protected lagoon for this), diving (very professionally-run dive centre and quality reefs nearby), have a massage (wonderful spa open to the ocean), and a little wedding ceremony on the beach for photos, but mostly our days were spent enjoying our villa and its deck. And that is what a honeymoon is all about – finding a beautiful, tranquil and private place to enjoy being together. Glass floored bungalows and underwater nightclubs are unnecessary. The service should be attentive but discrete and the Halavei team has the balance just right, always there when you need them, say hello with a smile, chat if you wish, but otherwise give you your space to be alone.

So if you, as I was a few months ago, are reading these reviews trying to choose the perfect place for the most important holiday of your life, I recommend Halaveli - you will not be disappointed. Thanks Renato and your team for the most wonderful honeymoon imaginable on your beautiful island.

Before I even write this review I first have to let you know I was practically in tears saying goodby to the Constance Halaveli; leaving paradise behind is hard! We spent three blissful days, relaxing at what I can only now refer to as 'heaven on earth'. The Constance Halaveli is quite simply exquisite.

We arrived at the island via speedboat transfer from the sister property Constance Moofushi. We'd already had 5 days there and thought it couldn't get any better as we loved Moofushi (and still do), however Halaveli took it to a different level.

The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, they were attentive, chatty and the best thing was they all seemed to have a real passion and enthusiasm for their job. So rare to find now-a-days and so incredibly refreshing.

Accommodation on this island is something else - both the beach and water villas are sublime. The beach villas are huge; private sun deck, pool, garden with a direct entrance to the private beach and an amazing outdoor bathroom with a sunken bath - simply stunning, my personal preference however lay with the water villas.

The water villas are very private, restful, quiet, beautifully decorated and have everything you need; the dip pool on the sun deck over looking the ocean, the steps taking you directly into the sea and the stunning views from every room made this the most breathtaking beautiful place I have ever stayed. Having a bath with the doors open, looking out across the ocean was the very essence of relaxation.

The snorkeling sadly wasn't great when we were they as the sea was pretty rough so visibility was poor, however this wasn't an issue for us as we were quite happy relaxing in the villa.

The quality of the food was great with the Jahaz buffet offering a wide variety of international dishes. Breakfast was particularly good - but watch out for the grey heron who stalks around at meal times! The cheeky bird ran off with a delicious croissant from my side plate on the first morning! I can also highly recommend Meeru in an evening - we had a romantic meal, sat on the beach, under the full moon - my tenderloin was perfectly cooked and the atmosphere was private and sedate even with the restaurant practically full.

Sadly we didn't have time to sample the delights of Jing or have a treatment in the Spa so can't comment on either of them.

I won't carry on as I'm running out of superlatives to describe the awesomeness of this place, but if you're thinking of visiting this beautiful little island, stop thinking and just book it, you won't be disappointing - Constance Halaveli is perfection. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful whether you go for beach or a water villa.
