First up I should say this review is heavily influenced by the fact that from Good Friday through to Easter Monday the weather at Kinlochard was spectacular. We were sunbathing every day. The hotel enjoys a spectacular location overlooking Loch Ard with the snow covered Ben Lomond to the west. The hotel facilities were most satisfactory. Our room - I had pushed out the boat and opted for a suite - was well appointed, had a spectacular view and was very comfortable. Breakfast was in the main restaurant and was most enjoyable. On night one we dined in Rafters the on site leisure area and diner/bar and the service was good, the food most acceptable and not too pricey. Night two we dined in nearby Aberfoyle at a local pub. Again well priced. The final night we dined in the hotel restaurant. The food was fine, the ambience pleasant but I couldn't help feeling at £35 per head without any drinks it was a bit steep. Overall we had such an enjoyable time that I can say in all confidence we will go back. We never got to take a kayak out on Loch Ard and there was other exploring we never got to do.

We stayed here yesterday 25/4/14.We had booked through an Itison deal.£ 89 for B and B plus £ 15 off beauty treatments . By the end of our one night stay we had spent well over £ 300 ! The hotel was in a lovely setting .We arrived early but the receptionist said the room would be ready at 3 pm, not a problem we thought . We decided to have something to eat .We walked over to the Vital spa and gym. Upstairs there was a bar with no bar staff! We looked about found a menu but we just wanted a snack. A lady was moving chairs so we asked her if we could get soup and sandwiches . No, was the answer. We could get soup though . We were told it was brocolli . We then went back to the reception and found we could order snacks ! The sandwiches were very expensive for what they were . Our room was in the old part and looked a bit dated . The bed was very soft and springy . We had booked treatments for an hour and a half . They were good but the bed was very uncomfortable and I only had my robe on for a few minutes before my clothes were placed on a bed in the tranquility room. Where was I supposed to change ? I changed in the toilet!! No staff at reception on our way out , we didn't know where to go or if we should leave . £ 135 lighter though! Our evening meal was lovely , worth £ 30. We used the leisure facilities which looked new. Breakfast was delicious and a good choice of food was to be had . All in all the hotel was just fine . Would I go back ? I'm not sure . There seemed to be a hard sell on quite a few things . Beauty products , wine. etc A bargain weekend turned out to be the exact opposite !

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Forest Hills timeshare (lucky enough to get a resale of an unwanted week). The lodge was excellently equipped with huge comfortable beds and everything was spotlessly clean. We loved the views of the lake and mountains from the main room and balcony. The pool is bigger than most hotel pools and we generally had it to ourselves. We ate at Rafters bistro twice and can not understand the negative reviews it has received. In our opinion the food is far superior to usual pub food and the service was more like a hotel restaurant. We also enjoyed the wine tasting evening and the live Scottish music on Thursday night. Would love to return.

I have just returned from an overnight spa break with my sister at Forest Hills Hotel. We had a most enjoyable and relaxing experience from check in to leaving. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the service was first class. We had a comfortable, well equipped room with a view over to the gardens and loch beyond.Although the hotel was busy we didn't hear a sound in our room.We enjoyed a well presented and delicious dinner,at a window table with a lovely view to the loch after using the pool and spa.The relaxation room after our facials was warm and relaxing,so we didn't want to leave.
The spa was a short walk across the car park, but we had comfy bathrobes,so it wasn't a problem.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting, with an outside terrace overlooking Loch Ard,but on a wet day there are cosy lounges indoors as well.
Thanks to all the staff for making our spa break so enjoyable.

Just returned from an excellent easter weekend. Weather was incredible and the hotel and grounds look amazing. We were part of a large family group staying in the onsite lodges. Our lodge was clean and well equiped.

The highlight of the resort is the amazing leisure facilities. The young lady behind the desk with the very blue eyes was excellent in greeting our son and daughter and asking them about their holiday which they found very exciting. She seemed to be running the show alone however and was the only face we saw behind the desk, she told me she was on split shifts but we saw her whatever time we went in. Not a yawn or grumble though!

We had a few meals in the bar above the pool also and the food was great. Staff up there very friendly too despite being busy.

Excellent family holiday. We will be back next year

Room Tip: Be sure to have a swim!

Just back from the Macdonalds Forest-hills hotel. We have stayed in a few Macdonalds around Scotland, and have always had 5 star quality dinning and amazing service. We got a really good deal for 2 nights DBB. We were there with friends, who also had a fab time. We arrived mid day to the most beautiful views. The main hotel looks over the loch with breath taking view of the area. There are also lodges/apartments at each side for families or for a more independent stay, but you can still use all the hotel facilities.

Check in was quick and our rooms ready. We had room 102 which had a balcony looking across the ground and loch. The room was very clean and a good size. The bed was so comfortable we had a great sleep. We had dinner included in our deal, and we were not disappointed with the meals/breakfast we had. The service and food in the dinning room was first class. After dinner there are a couple of lounges to relax in where drinks or coffee can be served. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff.

We all have to say that all staff were smashing and they have achieved the fine balance of being friendly, approachable, having a chat, but making you feel very special with amazing service. Helen especially was great. We notice how well she managed the staff and visitors to the hotel.
Jack the night shift staff member, came over and introduced himself, while we were having a drink in the bar. It was just to let us know that if we needed anything at all not to hesitate to call, amazing.

The only negative thing we would like to feed back is the price of the some of the drinks. We know this is a 4 star hotel, and expected to pay more then usual prices for the quality of the service, but £3.05 for a small bottle of mixer (cola) is a bit extreme. This didn't stop us having a great time, as it's good to treat yourselves.

Would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for two nights in April 15th and 16th.
This is the best macdonalds we have stayed in .
The staff where all exeptional ,especially Helen (i have neglected to get her surname) she was the most curteious polite and helpfull person we have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
The food was very good and the bar service from Angela and Robert was of the highest standard.
This hotel chain are certain of return visits if they can maintain the exellent staff .
The hotel was very well presented and spotless.
All the members of staff we encountered where very pleasant.
Overall a great stay and a very enjoyable time thanks mainly to the staff at the hotel.

Room Tip: room 102 has a balcony with views that are great.
