we stayed at the Rhodian Sun for a week in September as a couple.
We had a great holiday, met some really lovely people, and the family that own the hotel really cant do enough for you.
we stayed in one of the basement rooms, which was not the best to be fair, but it was kept clean, and we had the sheets and towels replaced daily, so it did the job.
the food was good, and always something nice to choose from, even if you did have to wait for a while, relax as the Greeks do.
Never had a problem getting drinks of our choice, and always with a smile, all inclusive light suited us, and anyway the drinks we did buy were not expensive.
Sunbeds we did find a problem with ,as everybody puts towels on them, and they were in short supply. Stavros did tell us on the way to the airport he had tried to get more, but had to wait,so he had tried
we found the return visitors helpful and friendly and we didnt feel they got priority over us.
if you want a quiet holiday, spent in a small hotel with a family that treats you as their ownl then you cant go wrong.
If you want a perfect hotel, with plastic food and a disco, in the thick of it, then go elsewhere, this is not the place for you
A big thank you to you all Mama ,Papa, Staveros, Jorge ,NIkos, unlcle and of course we couldnt forget Wictoria and Patryk. There were some people we didnt get their names You all worked so hard, and we had the most enjoyable holiday,
See you in the future .

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor room

Relaxing , helpful friendly staff. Too far from any civilisation. Rooms very basic.bathroom very small.
Aircraft noise as hotel is near the end of the runway.
If you want too laze by the pool and do nothing else, this is an ideal hotel for you.

We stayed at the Rhodian for 10 days in September. I'll start with the positives. The family are really lovely people and will help you out in any way they can. They're very hospitable and are genuine with it and we grew to feel very comfortable around their company. We were picked up from the airport by Stavros at 11pm at night for free and also got a free late checkout and again transfer back to the airport at the end of our stay. Papa will take you to the shops or beach in the morning at 10.30 and will wait for you to pick up some bits or pick you up at 1.30pm to take you back to the hotel. Everyone works hard to please you and they do generally try to help you enjoy your stay. The all inclusive light is as everyone say Breakast - 7-10am, Lunch 1.30-3.30 and dinner 7.30-10pm. All food and drinks are included in these times. The rooms are cleaned everyday, fresh towels and bathroom cleaned. There is a really relaxing feel to the hotel and if that works for you then you'll like it .
Now to the negatives. Although we really grew to love the family you must give an honest review on everything on Trip Advisor.
Location is top of the list. We knew when we booked we were going to be remote but just how much surprised us. The nearest shops / restaurants are a 25 min walk away. There is a nice sports bar there called Billy's Place which does a mean breakfast (till 2.30pm) if you have a lay in and also shows any football you may want to watch and a lovely Greek restaurant called the Little Greek Kitchen which offers amazing food but it's not somewhere you can walk out and have a nice evening stroll. There is a bus stop a few minutes walk away which will get you to Rhodes town in 50 minutes, and from there to other places. It took us over 2.5 hours to get to faliraki one day so we ended up hiring a car to drive around. We paid 110 euros for 3 days from the car hire place in tholos but spoke to people who booked their car hire online and got a much better deal I think it was £120 for 2 weeks. We booked a day trip to marmaris which was a great day out, but don't book through the hotel as they were charging 59 euros and we got it for 30 euros in in the town.
Hotel - the rooms are not exactly up on health & safety and need attention. Our room had a TV which made a scary buzzing sound when plugged in, the balcony light did not work, one of the room lights did not work, there is no safe and one of the electric sockets didn't work which meant we couldn't have a working fridge.
Food - I've read a lot of reviews that call it 5 star but I think at best it's a 3. Our experience was a mixed affair. The numbered paddle system goes out of the window once the orders are taken. One day I waited from 1.30 in the afternoon for lunch (curried goat) and was still waiting at 3.30 AND others were having seconds before I had mine (and they ran out of rice by the time I got my meal). The soup was mostly served warm at best and I think it's best to wait till 3/4 of the way through eating times to maximise time by the pool but bear in mind you run the risk of the special of the day running out ! also the teabags aren't great so would advise to bring some from home. Also earplugs would come in handy as there is a farm nearby and the noise of the cockerels is constant, plus the airplanes taking off doesn't help for a good nights sleep!
The first 5 days we were there the pool filter wasn't working properly and the water was murky and green so we didn't spend much time in the pool.
A lot of people mention the regular guests and I have to agree that they do seem to get preferential treatment plus they can be a little bit clique, but it didn't really bother us that much.
Overall we had a great holiday but wouldn't go back to this hotel.

Arrived just after lunch and truly thought "oh no what have we done" ...but room was basic but clean..fresh sheets and towels daily..no hairdryer, but managed fine...after getting used to the spatula system for lunch and dinner we sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the dining experience...yes some days you did wait upto 2 hours for lunch ! But it was hot plenty to drink and very chilled atmosphere... BBQ on Tuesday eve was great food, drink and Greek dancing...the family are truly lovely and will do anything for you..so after a rocky start left loving the place..true relaxation...thank you
