We stayed at the Amirandes as part of our honeymoon a few weeks ago, we stayed in a superior double and the room was very clean and spacious. The hotel itself was stunning and the main restaurant area was beautiful, the staff were always helpful and friendly. We were half board so ate in the main restaurant every night but the food quality was fantastic and very varied. The drinks weren't cheap but I think the prices are to be expected from a 5 star resort, plus there was a small shop onsite where you could buy cheaper water/soft drinks/bottles of wine if you wanted.

The beach is small but there were always sun loungers available and the pool area was fantastic. The pool attendants brought around complimentary watermelon and bottles of water every day. The hotel is close to the bus stop into Heraklion which is an easy and cheap way to get into the capital to see the sights or have a cheaper lunch.

Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel, we stayed in another 5 star resort in Crete as another part of our trip and I would say that the Amirandes had better service and quality of food. We also received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and honeyed walnuts as it was our honeymoon, a fantastic start to our honeymoon!

Room Tip: The villas have private sun lounger areas on the beach.

We recommend staying at this hotel as it is modern, spacious, clean and to a very high standard. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are great-we stayed in the standard double which exceeded our expectations. The food offered is varied and delicious. The location of the hotel is good for the airport-15min taxi transfer. Wifi was good and free, and the Olympic swimming pool is great if you enjoy swimming or just Sitting by the pool.
The only slight negatives to note are that the bed we had was two single mattresses pushed together and the drinks are pricey-water was 3.5euros in restaurant. Don't let this put you off-highly recommend, even for a honeymoon!

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms have better views, but don't have a pool. Any room would be good for differe...

beautiful hotel, excellent management and super-friendly, helpful, attentive staff. food is really good - both at the main restaurant and at the pool restaurant. there are also speciality restaurants (Italian, Crete, Asian). prices of drinks are however unreasonable (12 euros for a glass of unspectacular Prosecco for instance, or 5 to 7 Euro for a glass of Greek table wine..).
the beach and pool beds are very comfortable and clean and staff brings towels and water in regular intervals. garden and beach are very well kept and clean. water in pool and sea very inviting.
major issue I had was with the spa: the sauna is unacceptably small and located directly inside the changing room and next to the toilets. when you are in the windowless sauna the only thing you can see through the door is the changing room and the only thing you hear is the toilet. so if you enjoy a sauna after a day on the beach or in case of cloudy or cooler weather - this is the wrong hotel.
I also felt the rooms are getting tired and although I booked a superior room with sea view, I only got a side-ways view of the sea. the balcony was attached to the neighbouring balconies and so no privacy there. And you can hear every step in the corridor as the doors are almost "transparent".
majority of the guests are from Russia.

Room Tip: if you can afford - go for a villa. these have access to a private beach and are less noisy

We recently vacationed in Greece and spent a few days on Crete, at the Amirandes. I can't even describe this place to my friends and family without absolutely gushing. The property is gorgeous, the people are beyond friendly, and we were totally spoiled by the time we left. If you want the beach, the pool, great food and total indulgence (at the spa!), then check this place out. We will be going back.

The other reviews say it all really. It is an excellent hotel, but for me let down on two easy to fix points - the towels are small and pretty useless, and the Internet is hopeless. Wifi network not robust to large numbers logging in, so don't expect to be streaming video (or, for that matter, emails) in a hurry. Enjoyable stay, but for hotels in the same price bracket this is not a winner.

We booked this hotel based on its ratings and proximity to a social function we had to attend. Even though we only stayed for two nights, the Amirandes staff made our stay very pleasurable. Everyone from reception to pool staff was always very helpful and I was surpised to see that staff would go out of their way or responsibilities to cater for our needs, even if these were sometimes special. We didn't have time to take advantage of its facilities or activities offered, but overall Amirandes is a very nice family-oriented resort. Special kudos to the pool staff (bar, lifeguards, service) who made our experience there great!

The breakfast buffet is great, and the chef gave us a personal tour of what is offered.

We stayed in this hotel with my friend for 10 days and enjoyed it greatly. From the start, with a welcome juice, sandwiches, water and wine in our room, the vacation was amazing. The breakfast is everyhing you can wish for:fresh juice, smoothies, fruits, tasty bakery. waffles, granola, muesli. porridge, eggs, omlette, cheese... The lunch by the pool is also surprusingly tasty, try huge portion of greek salad and spring rolls. Bear in mind, that it's quite expensive comnparing to prices in a vilage (13 euro compared to 4 euro). Our friends with kids were very satisfied with kids lunch at their club: big, tasty and healthy. While at the beach, you can ask for free bottles of waters.

The only negative expericence we had is dining in Cretan restaurant (don't remember the name). For fixed price of 70 euro we orded a set menu, which also included scrammbled eggs - very strange "cretan" snack, lamb and potato/chicken and rise (like in an airplane) for second course and greek yogurt with honey and nuts (which we usually ate for breakfast). Waste of money!

The weather was really windy, hard to swim in the sea, but you don't notice such a difference while swimming in the swimming pool with seawater. There are plenty of sport activities: yoga, dancing, acqua aerobics.

The location is difficult for people who don't want to use car during their vacation. But with a taxi (15 euro) you can go to Hersonissos or Pispokiano (best greek taverns) within 10-15 minutes.

Generally, the hotel is really beautiful and it is a real pleasure to walk around and enjoy the amazing views. The stuff is super friendly, aming to help 24/7.

Room Tip: Bungalo with a garden view is a best choice - it is beautiful and large, you have your own sunbeds...
