“Breath taking!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013 via mobile

As everyone else has already mentioned this hotel is amazing. My jaw dropped from the moment we arrived, it's design is beautiful, the staff are wonderful and the accommodation luxurious. We could not fault this hotel, yes the drinks are expensive but they always are in 5 star hotels. There were lots of nice touches, presents on arrival and when you leave and complimentary water and fruit at the beach each day. The hotel staff cannot do enough for you, you cannot fail to be impressed, we will definitely return!

This hotel really has the wow factor. The design is stunning and beautifully laid out from the infinity pools to the layout of the restaurant everything is wonderful. The service was excellent too many to name individually. The standard of food in the buffet was great very many choices. We do hope that the dress code will be maintained though as towards the end of our holiday we saw two men in shorts at dinner.

Room Tip: We did not pay extra for our room and it was one which overlooked the gardens rather than the sea an...

Our friend recommended this hotel, it is really impressive. We have our own pool in the backyark, the room is beautiful, the location is right on the beach. The breakfast... the chef made us egg while omelette with a beatiful presentation. At night, we enjoy nice dinners with friends in the hotel, the service is so great!

Just returned from our stay at Grecotel Amirandes. I can honestly say this is hotel really has it all. We booked on a half board basis and breakfast & dinner was not only delicious but so creative with such a wide variety of cuisines every night. It is a buffet style service and the restaurant is poolside which is stunning.

The hotel staff including the beach staff, cleaners, maintenance workers, reception staff and so on are the friendliest and most helpful people and they cannot do enough for you. They are all very smart and they will tell you anything you need to know.

There isn't much to do outside of the hotel as its only a small town with just a couple of little shops but you don't want to leave as you have everything from a beautiful sandy beach, a lovely pool, spa, gym, bar and reataurants at this hotel so you wont get bored!

Alcoholic drinks are expensive, around 10 - 15 euros for cocktails but that is expected at luxury hotels. You will not be disappointed if you book to come here. I will definitely be going back!

So we LOVED this place! We stayed in a VIP 2 bedroom Suite with its own private gym and heated pool. I kid you not, the private gym was a riot! The heated pool wasn't as heated as we might have like it, but it was great to have! The public pool was absolutely huge and a great poolside restaurant. The private beach was fun as well for a change. The restaurants were amazing. We weren't great fans of “Amirandes” for dinner buffet but the complementary breakfast buffet had a tremendous selection. “Blue Monkey” had Asian dining and even my teenage son loved it and wanted to return again. My favorite was the "Minotaur" with unbelievable Italian food and a fabulous Picasso collection. We were going to go again but were talked into going to "Xasteria" by the head waiter and we were so happy that we did, it was a true authentic Cretan experience.

However, the best part of the entire experience was the fabulous service. Everyone we met was so friendly, accommodating and helped to make our trip something we will never forget. We have had great service before, but this was one of the best. Our room was not ready when we arrived and they brought us to one of the bar areas, provided drinks, appetizers, constantly checked on us and brought us to the room as soon as it was ready.

We stayed at the Amirandes as part of our honeymoon a few weeks ago, we stayed in a superior double and the room was very clean and spacious. The hotel itself was stunning and the main restaurant area was beautiful, the staff were always helpful and friendly. We were half board so ate in the main restaurant every night but the food quality was fantastic and very varied. The drinks weren't cheap but I think the prices are to be expected from a 5 star resort, plus there was a small shop onsite where you could buy cheaper water/soft drinks/bottles of wine if you wanted.

The beach is small but there were always sun loungers available and the pool area was fantastic. The pool attendants brought around complimentary watermelon and bottles of water every day. The hotel is close to the bus stop into Heraklion which is an easy and cheap way to get into the capital to see the sights or have a cheaper lunch.

Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel, we stayed in another 5 star resort in Crete as another part of our trip and I would say that the Amirandes had better service and quality of food. We also received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and honeyed walnuts as it was our honeymoon, a fantastic start to our honeymoon!

Room Tip: The villas have private sun lounger areas on the beach.
