Karamba is a lovely place. It´s a peaceful and well maintained resort in calm surroundings. The area is much less turistic than the north/east part of the island. The bungalows are simple but clean and with charm. The garden and swimming pool area is fantastic. You can easily find your own private spot. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had almost all meals in the restaurant, the food was really good and we got very good service. I would love to go back to Karamba, it's a real paradise!

We need some place quiet and peaceful after a tough year working in Tanzania. We found it in Karumba!
We were met when we got out of the airport. Our standard rooms were upgraded at no increase in price on the second day. Both rooms were WONDERFUL!
The first two days we did NOTHING - bliss! We then got adventurous and swam with the dolphins and snorkelled on the reef. A highlight was the sunset cruise on a dhow. All arranged metres from the resort.
This is a place we will come back to.
Thanks everyone at Karamba

I would highly recommend Karamba Resorts – I stayed here for a fortnight and it is almost perfect if you are looking for lots of rustic me-time by the beach. The resort is as is in the photographs on the website. The staff is fantastic and will go out of their way to please you; the rooms are kept very clean (and sprayed daily to keep out the insects); the food is entirely wholesome and organic. It is the only beachside resort in Kizimkazi and therefore still very peaceful and not clamored by tourists. You can mingle with the locals, fish and watch dolphins with them. You can also enjoy the yoga space at the resort and go for long walks in the neighborhood that lead to other untouched beaches in the area. My favorite parts were the long, unhurried morning breakfasts with a gorgeous ocean view; the outdoor shower experience :); and the beautiful sunsets. Gemma, thank you for the wonderful experience!

Room Tip: The big rooms are really nice!

This is the best place I EVER stayed at! And I travel a lot....

The location is wonderfull! at a local village at a local beach. The beach is beautifull. From our room we could jump into the water and snorkel. And during the mornings the sea goes further away, but it is nice to have a walk on the beach in between the locals and sea birds. Have a look at the shells and starfish.

The bungalows are clean and right next to the ocean! There is a swimming pool that is nice. The gardens around the bungalows are beautifull. The whole area is totally ZEN. The restaurant area is outside and also next to the water. It is nice to have your dinner there while the sun is going under.

The food was really good! and service at the table was great!

The service is general is outstanding! The owner and staff are super nice! The where verry consernd, always asking if we needed something. making sure we where comfortable.

And we did need a lot because our luggage did not arrive the first 2 days and I got verry sick on my stay there. But they took care of EVERYTHING! The called the airport several times about the luggage, they arranged our trip to Jozani forest, the gave us swimming clothes because our luggage was not there, the called a doctor for me and made sure I was ok.
And they did everything with a big smile and warm hart.

They made me feel at home from the moment that we arrived and helped us with everything we had going on.So I recommend this place to everyone who is ever going to Zanzibar!

It is a wonderful hotel in the south of the island.
Gemma, the manager, is very helpful and lovely. She recommended us the best activities to do at the best prices.

The Hotel is placed by a very small village called Kizimkazi. Although the north of Zanzibar is so tourist, the south is still almost unexplored. If you want to do very high quality snorkelling and swimming with dolphins it is better to stay in the south of the island, and Karamba is an amazing hotel to stay in. We took a sailing boat to do snorkelling and go to a sand bank. The best snorkelling we have ever done (and we live in Kenia and do snorkelling almost once every two months). Later we went to a sand bank in the middle of the ocean where the sailors prepared a seafood BBQ. The food was really tasteful.
The day after we took a motor boat to sea dolphins. Karamba Hotel is the best play to do this activity as you departure very early in the morning and have the opportunity to see them with any other boats. Ten minutes after we had gotten there ten more boats arrived and the dolphins started swimming away.

Regarding the hotel, the rooms are pretty good, We stay in the standard room but we were lucky and got one with the shower under the stars. You should ask for these rooms. The restaurant is good, specially to eat fresh fish.

If we go back to Zanzibar we definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't miss the dusk from the swimming pool of the Hotel
