Description: The Blue Boar is a Traditional Country pub set in the Beautiful Village of Walsham-le-Willows. We served good quality, homemade food and all ingredients are sourced from suppliers within a 10 mile radius of the pub. The Blue Boar is a family run business and also our home so we make a special effort to ensure that people are made to feel welcome. We have a fantastic enclosed back garden with children's play area which is overlooked by the beautiful St Mary's Church. The Blue Boar is not a restaurant but it is a traditional, homely, village pub with a quality food offering ,open fires and low beams. Adam, Liz and their 2 children welcome you to the Blue Boar and are confident you will enjoy your visit.

The menu read fantastic so we thought we'd give it a go. Pub entrance was warm with open fire, mood lighting and pleasant music. We were sat in the back restaurant which had no atmosphere, no music, and no other customers. My friend ordered a main and no starter, asking for it to come with our mains, which the waitress confirmed. Hers arrived first to the table. When I questioned it, the waitress she snapped at us. One friend ordered chargrilled asparagus - which was black and chewy within an inch of its life - I ordered soup of the day with "warm crusty bread" which turned out to be a toasted burger bap cut into four pieces. I had a curried stuffed aubergine which was bland, and another friend had crispy duck with a red wine juis, which tasted suspiciously like thick Bisto beef gravy.

All in all, disappointing. It wasn't awful as far as pub food goes, but with a fabricated menu and higher than average prices, we expected a LOT more.

I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your dinner at The Blue Boar. It is not usually necessary to dispute a customers experience but as I was indeed present at the time of your visit I feel I must correct you on a few issued raised. Myself and my husband was dining in restaurant that evening for our 10 wedding anniversary and as we have 2 children it was a small treat before the start of service. It was very early evening when you arrived so I confirm that it was quiet in the restaurant. This obviously gave us the ability to hear the whole conversation between yourselves and our waitress who at no point snapped at you in any way. I am sure that no body is perfect but with her boss present in the dinning room why would she?? There was a mistake with your starter but I clearly heard the waitress offer to take it away and bring you out a fresh one with the main meals, an offer which you declined. If you food was not up to standard then I must apologise and obviously I will raise this with the chef. At no point did you raise any issue with the waitress who came and checked that everything was ok with your meals. If you had of informed her at the time of your visit it would have been swiftly dealt with. As I am quite certain some of your comments are entirely untrue it is very hard to take any of your other comments on board which is a great shame as we welcome Genuine feedback. Perhaps the fabrication of parts of your story have detracted from what could have been a helpful honest review. That being said we hope that in future if you return you will have a better experience. Kind regards Liz and Adam.

As we were house hunting in the area, we thought to try the local pub. So important to us that a village has a thriving community and a good pub can be central. We found the Blue Boar to be very welcoming to us and our two dogs, for who water was provided. The food was excellent, being tasty and wholesome. I can highly recommend the burger. Clearly food was locally sourced and very fresh. The selection of local beers was very good and we enjoy the one we tried. Service was friendly and attentive. A small mistake over the eggs of one of our party was quickly rectified when pointed out to the waitress. We have found a house near the village and are hoping to move in this summer. When we do we look forward to having the Blue Boar as our local to sample the other beers and to try the other meals on the menu.

We visited the Blue Boar on Saturday evening and must say the food was fantastic!
There were 4 of us in the party and 3 courses later we couldn't fault the food. We had the duck, steak and chicken all cooked perfectly. Top marks to the chef!
Our only quibble was the setting for such a lovely meal. A few cheap quick fixes like crisp white table cloths on the scratch covered tables and some flowers etc. would make such a difference.
I would like to thank the waitress for great service too (unfortunately I did not get her name). The bar maid however didn't seem to be listening when she came over to take our drinks order and although I asked for a large wine I was brought a small but charged for a large. I didn't complain as it’s a matter of a pound and she didn't come across as very approachable.
Having visited this pub a few years ago I could see the improvements the current owners have made. Can’t wait to return when a few more have been made to the inside (restaurant area especially) that does the food justice.

Many thanks for your kind review. I am glad that you enjoyed your food and pleased that your waitress looked after you. We are not a restaurant so as a pub we try and keep a more relaxed approach in our dining area. I appreciate that some people do prefer a more formal setting and have taken your comments on board. We are always looking to improve so appreciate good feedback. I am sure you will continue to see improvements as we progress. Kind regards Liz and Adam

Arriving at about 2.45pm, a really fabulous Sunday Lunch was enjoyed. Perfectly cooked beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire, and about 6 additional vegetables. First class +++++. Staff were attentive and very polite, nothing was too much trouble. A great atmosphere in the pub. Certainly great value for money and food of very good quality.
Will be returning.
