Description: The Blue Boar is a Traditional Country pub set in the Beautiful Village of Walsham-le-Willows. We served good quality, homemade food and all ingredients are sourced from suppliers within a 10 mile radius of the pub. The Blue Boar is a family run business and also our home so we make a special effort to ensure that people are made to feel welcome. We have a fantastic enclosed back garden with children's play area which is overlooked by the beautiful St Mary's Church. The Blue Boar is not a restaurant but it is a traditional, homely, village pub with a quality food offering ,open fires and low beams. Adam, Liz and their 2 children welcome you to the Blue Boar and are confident you will enjoy your visit.

The Blue Boar is where one can enjoy a pint of good real ale, a glass of wine and eat a good meal.Greeted on arrival (other pubs take note!), were led into a very pleasant restaurant which has windows overlooking the garden. The menu is not too big or stereotyped. Our food was a little bit slow arriving, which we put down to fresh ingredients being cooked to order. Our first courses were tomato and basil soup, scallops with pancetta, and crispy ham hock with a mustard sauce. All were good. Our main dishes were duck breast with bubble and squeak, lamb three ways, and steak and ale pie. All these were well made and presented, and much enjoyed. The service from two friendly and helpful girls was excellent. The wine list is fairly priced starting at £12.99 for Chilean wines. The large garden has seating and ideal for drinks outside, children and dogs. As we left they said 'Good Night', we will certainly return.

I was looking for a pub locally which had a garden for 3 young children to charge about in. Came across The Blue Boar and was taken by the photos of the garden and the menu selection looked good. I rang at midday for a table for 9 people for early evening. The pub was very accommodating as they were very busy. I took a chance on visiting and myself and the rest of the party were very impressed with the whole experience. The restaurant looked over the lovely big garden and play area, staff friendly and the food excellent. We will be returning.

We had never been before and used a Groupon voucher to attend, so wasn't sure what to expect....but we loved it! The food was fantastic, all home made and very good sized portions. The surroundings are lovely, old fashioned pub with comfy seats and fireplaces. Back garden is huge, great for kids to run around in, there is also swings and see-saws, to keep young ones entertained. The waitress' were very attentive, but knew when to disturb and when not to. I thought it was great. The only down side was it was a little bit of a trek to get there, but honestly, its worth it.

Myself and other half enjoyed a voucher deal including glass of wine early evening yesterday (on the day England were playing in the World Cup). What a smashing place. Tiffany and Liz were so very welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked through the door. Cosy relaxing place, with a good seating area overlooking a huge garden with play area for children and benches and tables for those wanting to enjoy their food and drinks outside in the summer sun. The menus were very varied with lots of good choices for the price. It was hard for us to choose but we both plumped for Blue Boar burger , chips, onion rings and salad as we had heard great reviews. Well what can I say. The plates were piled with lovely crispy home made onion rings, home cut yummy chips and gorgeous steak beef burgers peeking out of soft cheese topped bun. Bacon and melted cheese oozing out. They were absolutely delicious and are probably the best, we have ever eaten ( and we are regular diners) the salad was crispy and fresh too. All in all an absolute feast on a plate. I had a couple of good glasses of red to top it all off, and other half enjoyed some local lager that he said was good and made a nice change from the usual lagers. Sadly we couldn't squeeze dessert in, but rest assured we shall most definitely be back again (very soon!) to enjoy a repeat performance. Highly recommended staff, pub and most of all the fabulous food. Many thanks to all the team we had a fab evening.

Would have been a '5 star' were it not to put them in the awkward position of being directly compared to much more expensive restaurants in Bury. The Blue Boar is not a restaurant, it's a pub, and a really good one at that! Used to go here quite regularly back in the 80's/90's - it's a large building with a massive garden which was great when we were kids! It went downhill but has honestly never been as good as it is now, in our opinion. Yes the decor needs to evolve as the business evolves, but the service was amazingly friendly; the food was much much better than "pub grub" (they shouldn't do themselves down.. the quality of ingredients and the cooking far exceeds most local pubs, and the menu was quite inventive too); and the wine and beer range was brilliant. All for a very good price. Will come again and bring the family!

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It is sometimes hard to be compared with fine dining restaurants in Bury but we are very proud to be very good pub. It is lovely that you recognise the importance of good pubs in the area and lovely that you feel as though the Blue Boar is the best it has ever been. We thank you for your review and look forward to welcoming yourself and your family back very soon. Kind Regards Liz and Adam
