“Perfect for holidays as couple”
Reviewed 8 October 2014 for a stay in July 2013

We were looking for a nice place to stay for our first holidays together and found this cottage. It was a great holiday and we managed to have a good balance between actions (all reachable by bus or on foot: Bury St. Edmunds, Anglo-Saxon Village, footpathes along, Fuller's Mill Garden) and calm days "at home". We experienced the forge as very cozy and great. The whole forge is decorated so nicely and creates a perfect atmosphere. We often used the garden to eat outside or read a book.
Very much to recommend :)
Btw: We had no car but managed everyting very well. The owner of the forge even offered us to bring us to the train station with her car :) and she send us some clothes to Germany, we forgot in the forge... Thank you for that! :)

“Excellent hideaway in Suffolk countryside”

If you are a couple looking for a short break in Suffolk you would be hard pushed to find better. The Forge still retains all it's old world charm, yet has been fitted out to make a very comfortable stay. A modern kitchen with new equipment, central heating, (not that we needed that), and Wi-Fi. Also very comfortable bed which is often not the case for short lets. Ten minutes from Bury St Edmunds which is a lovely city, but in a country village. Golfers should try Flempton golf course just down the road, (need handicap certificates), but a gem of a nine hole course over 100 years old. Pub opposite not much to recommend, but plenty of good ones in the area. Very welcoming and helpful owner.

“Everything has been thought of!”
Reviewed 1 April 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Lovely spot, beautiful property. Owner next door and could not do enough for us. Many thoughtful small touches that added such pleasure. Would not hesitate in recommending this property for a quiet stay, but with lots going on in nearby Bury St Edmunds if you wanted to venture out from under the duvet!

Thank you for your kind review. The property does have that certain "je ne se qua". Visitors do seem to love the cozy nature of the property and you are quite right, there are some fantastic places to visit around Bury St Edmunds and indeed this part of Suffolk generally!
