“Fun and hip place to stay”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Over the course of a 10 day trip to Costa Rica, I varied the types of accommodations I booked with regard to price. In the case of Nosara, a friend who had lived there for a few years provided a list of hotel suggestions, and KayaSol Surf Hotel stood out as I did some further research. The place has it all - quiet pool area, nice bar and ample seating at the restaurant. I stayed for two nights in one of the studios on the bottom floor. I was pleased with the cleanliness and quiet of the room. My only complaint relates to the bed - it was an uncomfortable mattress, and the pillows were lackluster at best. Overall, great value and friendly enough staff - worthy of a repeat visit (just ask for extra pillows!).

Room Tip: More quiet the further from the restaurant and pool you get.

We stayed at Kaya Sol Surf Hotel for a month in April and May 2014 and we had a lot of fun. The room was comfortable and the restaurant food was delicious. The pool area is shaded so the pool itself was delightfully cool, with lush well cared for grounds including giant guanacaste trees.
It was the people who work at Kaya Sol and the guests and locals that hang around the place that made it fun. There is a "cool" bar scene, some nights with live music. It is close to the beach, a market, a surf shop and other good restaurants. The place quiets down after 10 pm accommodating surfers. Also they make a mean mojito.

Kaya Sol was wonderfully adequate, and was in my humble opinion the best place to stay in Nosara for surfing. Other travelers we spoke with were blown away by how much less we paid for a double room. Kaya Sol is not a fancy or high end place, the room accommodations were simple and adequate. The location was the best, closest walk to the beach and the ground of the hotel were awesome. The restaurant was very good and the people were friendly. Highly recommend Kaya Sol for the price.

Room Tip: Air conditioned private room was nice

KayaSol is awesome. Its reasonably priced for Costa Rica (avg $20 pp/pn) and its clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming and always willing to practice spanish with you if you want. The pool provides a nice break from the heat of the afternoon sun, while still allowing you to be outside enjoying the fresh air, iguanas, and a cocktail from the bar. The restaurant provides a variety of food, all prepared to order and tasty (chicken nachos!!). Most meals are roughly $8-$15 USD. Its close to the beach (maybe a 3-5 minute walk), a small grocery, other restaurants, and has surfboard rentals.

It is a little loud in the mornings (7am), with construction in the area, workers starting their days but as culture deams early to rise and early to bed but its nice to get up anyway so it wasnt too much of an issue. Evenings, the bar closes at 10 so its quiet soon thereafter.

i traveled to Nosara by myself and after spending a quick weekend at Kaya Sol with friends last year, I thought it to be the perfect spot for a week of relaxing, good surf, good food and service. I was 100% right in all aspects, and would recommend it to anyone.

-This hotel has a great vibe and beautiful atmosphere, and for the price you wont find a better place to stay. The location is perfect as its in the middle of town with access to everything including the beach.
-If your looking for surf lessons Neil is the man as he's patient but motivating at the same time while pushing you out of your comfort zone to make real progress.
-Rooms are well appointed, I stayed in the Cabana Frie which was, comfortable, cold, and quiet after 10pm.
-The only advice I would give to the hotel is besides Neil the rest of the staff is unfriendly and make you feel as if your bothering them when asking for coffee or even a menu, even a smile goes a long way if the language barrier is the issue.

we headed to Nosara to catch up with some friends down in Costa Rica from Canada, and got a couple of beds in the hostel hut. more pricey than a lot of CR, but still, spotlessly clean, individual safes for valuables, cheap board rental, kitchen, pool... also, very friendly and attentive staff

Room Tip: take ear plugs, mainly for the howler monkeys!
