“Simply Magical”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

This review is long past due. I traveled solo to Nosara in May 2013, and stayed 6 incredibly perfect nights at Villa Mango. I drove from San Jose to Nosara, which made feel like Indiana Jones - I've heard the roads have since been paved, so I'm glad to have experienced the adventure of it all! I used my car during my time there, but most places are accessible with a 15-30 minute walk via the beaches (walking back at night might be difficult though).

I stayed in the Tucan room and had a simply magical experience at Villa Mango. Agnes and Jo are sweet, generous, incredibly entertaining, and helpful with EVERYTHING. The breakfasts prepared by Yamileth were huge and delicious. Eggs and/or pancakes made to order (I'm still craving the chocolate and banana pancakes), fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, fresh juice, breads and jams, and splendid COSTA RICAN COFFEE. I'd eat breakfast and go do yoga and surf and not have to eat until dinner!

The weather was awesome. May is kind of the shoulder season, but it means less people and better prices most places. It was hot and sunny during the days and there were some great afternoon and evening thunderstorms with huge, but short-lived downpours. The rain was just enough to cool things off, but not ruin any adventures.

I did yoga at Villa Mango a couple of times with Kelley and she's FABULOUS! It was amazing to have small/private instruction on the deck where the monkeys come to watch (they must like the music). Unequaled experience anywhere.

I can't say enough about how perfect and comfortable my stay at Villa Mango was. I will go back as soon as I can, and consider Agnes, Jo, and Kelley forever friends.

My boyfriend and I recently returned from a 3 night stay at the beautiful and cozy Villa Mango. From the moment we arrive Agnes and Jo treated us with such wonderful hospitality. We stayed in the Congo room which we decided will be our room there from now on. We spent many hours on our porch in rocking chairs listening to the sounds of the jungle including some friendly monkeys. Each morning a delicious breakfast was prepared for us. We left every meal feeling very satisfied. Agnes was wonderful in helping us plan activities and giving us recommendations for local sights to see and restaurants to dine at. We were able to go horseback riding and ziplining. One our favorite restaurants was Largata Lodge only a short walk away. As well as friendly hosts and guests, the beautiful deck at Villa Mango was filled with hammocks and were incredibly inviting to lounge in during a short rain storm. We also recommend morning yoga on the deck which is provided a few times a week and an hour long massage. We can't wait to get back to this tropical oasis. Thank you Agnes and Jo for such a memorable experience!

We found this place by chance and this was definitely a hit :)
Jo and Agnes made our stay there an unforgettable experience. Besides their warm hospitality the rooms are spacious, clean with excellent sleeping facilities. The bathroom is clean and cozy. All the guests gathered around the table for breakfast together with Jo and Agnes, just like a big family. The breakfast itself was nourishing and offered lots of varieties.
Monkeys, humming birds, horses, toucans, etc. can all be seem from the comfortable veranda.

Jo and Agnes, thanks again for your hospitality.

This was just what we were looking for. Lots of wildlife, great views, walking distance to the beach, wonderful hosts, yummy breakfast, off the beaten path and fantastic accommodations. Booked at the last minute so didn't know what to expect but the Congo Room was amazing. Loved the outdoor bathroom and the view of the howlers right outside the window. Did not need the a/c at all. The fans did a great job. The roads in Nosara are really rough so I would highly recommend a 4x4 to get around. An unexpected treat was seeing the olive ridley turtles lay their eggs on a tour arranged by Agnes. Hope to return someday.

My husband and I and another couple spent five nights at Villa Mango June 3013. We chose Nosara because we wanted to be a bit off the beaten path. And, we were! This is not a touristy destination. There are two beaches nearby. When we were at Playa Pelada, we were practically the only ones there. At Playa Guinones, the surfers beach, there were maybe a couple of dozen people. The property is very nice. They have a beautiful covered terrace with plenty of room to relax on hammocks or chairs and take in the stunning view. Seriously, the view of the Pacific is absolutely phenomenal! We ate a delicious breakfast everyday on the terrace. I couldn't get enough of the fresh fruit and juice. There were also eggs or pancakes to order and different breads to toast with an assortment of spreads. There are two new rooms on the second floor. We stayed in the Pizote room and our friends stayed in the Congo room. The main difference is the Congo room has a full ocean view while the Pizote has a partial view. The bed was very comfortable. It was worth spending some extra $$ to have the A/C on. The bathroom is huge with a beautiful walk in shower and a sitting area. We were usually more active in the morning and then came back to Villa Mango to relax on the terrace or in the pool. There are three restaurants that are within walking distance. However, I wouldn't recommend walking. It's very dark and not well marked and we were easily lost. We ended up renting a car. We still got lost a lot, but it least it was in an air conditioned vehicle! We ate at Il Pepperoni and La Luna twice. Delicious! We also ate at the Gilded Iguana and Rosi's Soda Tica in Playa Guinones. A highlight of our time in Nosara was ziplining with Miss Sky Canopy Tours. Agnes will make any reservations you need. Both she and Jo are a wealth of information and are so much fun. There are mango trees right next to the terrace where we frequently saw howler monkeys. You can get spa treatments and do yoga right at Villa Mango. I would definitely recommend this property!

Room Tip: The newer rooms, Pizote and Congo are very nice and very private.

We wanted to stay for one night and stayed for four (just because we had to leave Costa Rica) - I guess this says all. Villa Mango is a real great hideaway in a fantastic surrounding. We really enjoyed being there.
The hosts - Agnes and Jo - are really great. We loved the breakfasts on the big wooden table on the veranda with the other guests and Agnes & Jo entertaining us all. They supported us with great recommendations of what to do and where to go for dinner.
The rooms are really nice - in the morning we always heard the monkeys screaming in the trees nearby - especially they love the mangos from the mango tree at Villa Mango - so we could also watch them, when they came there for their favorite food.
We really enjoyed our stay and already planned to come back!
So if you are planning to go to Nosara we can really recommend this great hideaway!

We loved that the moment we arrived without reservation we were welcomed in and were given a spectacular room. The bed was memory foam, and the shower has a rain shower head plus a sit down area! During our stay, I watched Los monos relaxing in near by trees. Perfecto!
