“Shangri La”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Outstanding stay at the Living Hotel. What a gem!! Gorgeous grounds with a lovely pool. Enclosed off street guest parking. Hotel is centrally located - you can walk to beach and nearby restaurants. On site yoga classes are held in loft area. Had a great massage in the hotel spa. Each room has a porch with comfy bean bag chairs and hammocks. Rooms are tidy. Hotel staff was so helpful - arranging activities and recommending restaurants. On site restaurant serves healthy breakfast/lunch/smoothies. Hotel also offers continental breakfast included in the room rate. Hotel is quiet at night - no party here. Exactly what I was looking for. I stayed a week - wish it was longer. I returned completely rejuvinated after visiting this Shangri La in Costa Rica. Can't wait to return.

My son nathan and i stayed an amazing two weeks at the living in march of this year. I am a big fan of nosara special vibe and people ans had stayed in the well known Harmony hotel back in october...But the Living Hotel is sooooo much nicer in every way! I wish i had found this gem before:) The service is excellent and we felt welcomed and appreciated as guests ! Two girlfriends were sharing a connected room with us so the setting was just perfect we got to relax, sip on amazing juices, surf everyday, and make news friends! My son just loved his experience at the Living too! We hope to be back soon thank you so much and dont change because everything was perfect! Pura vida-julie and nathan

We had a wonderful stay! It was our first destination in Costa Rica, and the perfect place to land. The outdoor cafe on site (open to the public) was INCREDIBLE. I can still taste in my mind's taste buds the most delicious smoothies we've ever had. We loved how silent and peaceful the property was. Our only glitch was that it was not properly indicated to us where to get the breakfast that was included in the price of our stay. So, we ate 3 breakfasts in the fancy cafe thinking that we were getting them for free. We should have known it was too good to be true! We ended up having to pay for all of the breakfasts when we checked out. But in a way I'm glad it worked out that way since those three meals were such a memorable part of our vacation! We rented surfboards from Juan Surfo's surf shop across the road, and rented mountain bikes from PlayaBike for some biking adventures. Wished the beach had some shade… there aren't any trees along the beach, only scrubby bushes, but that doesn't have anything to do with the lovely sanctuary we found at the Living Hotel. Ahhh… wish I could go back RIGHT. NOW. :)

We arrived and the serenity began.. Massage on premise two days. Beautiful pool setting. Convienent to all restuarants and beach. Yoga classes daily. Couldn't have experienced Nosara any better. The only negative was the breakfast. Fruit, toast, coffee and juice everyday. A little protein would have been nice.

Room Tip: The back two rooms are the best. They are adjoining and secluded.

I really enjoyed my short stay here. Unbelievable landscaping, a great pool, and a clean comfortable room combined to provide an excellent experience. The hammock outside my room and the smoothie bar were also appreciated amenities. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

We stayed here recently, just one night (because of the itinerary). Tonly bad thing about the place is that you have to leave :(.

The hotel is small, rooms have a decent size and are very private. The place is really nice, is like a big garden, with a pool in the middle.

In less that five minutes you can get to Guiones beach, there is also a lot of bars and restaurants near the place, and many surf stores (rent equipment or take lessons).

Food is good, service is excellent.

Great location, couple minute walk to the beach, clean and the living café is delicious. I hardly heard anyone the whole time I was there. There is a surf board storage room if you need one and they give you your own key. Breakfast is very simple - consists of toast, jam, fruits and coffee. Close by to Kaya Sol, Juan Surfo’s Surf Shop and Gilded Iguana. Playa Guiones has two main road access points, one has the Living Hotel etc on it and the other has the Harmony Hotel, Café de Paris, Robin’s Beach Dog café etc. You can walk along the beach to get to each side easily but it is further than it looks on the map. The red road (main access point) has a lot of construction while I was there and was extremely noisy. I am glad we were on the other side. Everything is pretty spread out in Nosara (Playa Guiones) so I was happy that we had our own car to get around to La Luna, town of Nosara and stop by Robin’s for lunch.
