“Great time!”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

My family traveled to France for the first time in late July 2013 and stayed at La Forestiere while competing in a surfing competition. It was a wonderfully quiet place. Our children were probably the loudest of the visitors. The rooms were clean, but dated. The meals, coffee, fruit and pastries in the morning were fresh and staff accomodating and friendly. The evening meals at the restaurant included with the board were fantastic! English was spoke by most of the staff and they helped me with my French. I would love to visit again!

Room Tip: Room on the road get a little noise, but the rooms with a pool view are very quiet.

The Hotel was Clean but needing an up grade The Staff and owner are very friendly
We booked the Restaurant with the hotel and where under the impression that it was owned by the hotel
we where the first in I had the fish soup this was like a thick gravy the wife’s salmon looked like it had been left over from lunch
I had the prawns with mash potato disgusting the Wife had Duck Leg well this was so small it looked like a pigeon leg
She had the desert this was something out of the microwave
The service was terrible one lady to look after 10 tables
It looked like the chef was doing every body’s starters then every body’s main Corse
And then desert
This took 2 hours for the Horror move to end we where also told to pay the restaurant and not the Hotel
We spent this time watching French people just waking out
When we went back in the Hotel and complained the Lady Owner told Us that the Restaurant wasn’t owned by her and wasn’t interested
This Place isn’t cheap £70.00 for Rubbish please stay away there are far better in the Town

Room Tip: Please Stay away

Having been to the restaurant the last time we were in Biscarosse we asked the friends with whom we are staying to book us in, which they did last May. The restaurant was a particular favourite of theirs and they reserved a specific table. Last week they also went there with some friends and reconfirmed the booking.
When we arrived last night we were therefore somewhat surprised to find a family sat at our reserved table. The waitress was most apologetic and informed us that the family were friends of the hotel's manager and our booking had been cancelled in their favour
Naturally we expressed our displeasure and the waitress offered us a glass of champagne "gratuit" as a goodwill gesture by way of apology. We accepted.
The meal, to be fair, was excellent. We had the gourmet offering at €45 each.
At the end of the meal the chef came to our table and apologised once more for giving away our per reserved table and he too said he would like to offer us a compris glass of champagne, which he brought to our table.
When the bill arrived it included €32 for the champagne. We naturally queried this and the chef maintained, despite the fact that we had ordered neither of the free goodwill offerings, we should pay for one of them. After considerable hassle it was finally accepted that they would remove the excess charge.
It was very sad that an otherwise excellent evening was spoiled first by the fact that our table was not reserved as agreed and then by the attitude of the chef. We all felt very sorry for the waitress, who was most pleasant and helpful, but at the end of the day it was a matter of principle - you do not offer compensation and then charge for it!
Despite the food being very good neither we nor our friends will be returning.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel in the past 4 years, and we were not disappointed. We only stayed one night before driving north, but had we booked for longer we would have asked for one of the poolside rooms which have their own little balcony and in which we have stayed before. It's in a lovely location, too far to walk in hot weather into the town, but close enough to walk to the fabulous beach and pine forests. Our evening meal in the restaurant, though now a separate business, did not disappoint - the food was of a very high standard. Breakfast is now served in a separate room at the back of the hotel, and if the weather is good (which it was!) you can eat outside in the little garden. Typical continental breakfast, plus lovely fresh nectarines! One of our favourite hotels, which we will definitely return to sometime.

Stayed for one night as we managed to drive down earlier than expected and the Hype didn't yet have a room for us.

Room by the pool. No fuss. Very pleasant location. Very quiet. Very clean. Everything as it should be. I don't see it as a long-term option as, if you're down this way, you're probably an outdoorsy type and will want to be out in the pines.

But I can't fault it for a stop-over or a couple of nights.

Room Tip: By the pool?

Great location, just on the edge of the forest and only a 10 minute walk from the beach and village in a very peaceful spot. Pleasant friendly helpful staff with a good level of English spoken. Lovely heated pool. Having a safe in the room was very useful from a security perspective. Air-conditioning was very welcome also - tho the lowest it would seem to go was 17 degrees, which is still a little warm for us. The breakfast was an extra 9 euro but comprised of a nice little buffet with breads, croissant, pain-au-choc, fruit, cheese, yogurt, juice and hot drinks, tho'10am was the latest breakfast was served - which does seem a bit early for a holiday. The double room however was just that little bit too small.
A mini-fridge (like a mini bar) in the room would have been very welcome to keep water cold.

I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of July with parents and teenage boys. The staff were really helpul and efficient both in the restaurant and hotel. I took note of previous comments and booked the ground floor rooms by the swimmingpool. Wifi is useful and the pool was great to come back and have a late afternoon swim.
We had 2 meals in the restaurant, both were good if not necessarily a choice I would have made. Substitutes had to be advised in the morning and was no problem. We ate out in the town one night so had a packed lunch instead, it was OK.
Loved the town and boys had surfing lessons and we hired bikes which was great to cycle over to the lake, tres difficile!!

Room Tip: The superior rooms had a great pool view and the ground floor good for the older less mobile guests.
