Reviewed 27 November 2013

I stayed in this hotel for two nights at the beginning of November 2013, when Drama was thriving with different events (a sports tournament and a few conferences, as far as I could tell). The first thing that amazed me was the owners'/personell's eagerness to accommodate my inquiry for a room there, even though the hotel was initially fully-booked. When I first called to investigate that possibility, the receptionist asked for my contact info, which I provided yet not really believing that they would call back. To my pleasant surprise, they did call a few days later to confirm that a room was found and reserved for me. A member of the hotel staff called me twice later, to confirm my stay and ask if I needed any assistance or directions for getting to the hotel. To some degree this might be expected, but I found it telling of the down-to-earth experience of what seemed to be a family-run hotel. When I arrived there, I was able to confirm that feeling. Staff were very friendly, the room was basic but clean and comfortable, and breakfast was just fine -- except from a broken coffee machine which limited beverage options. And I really appreciated the free Wi-Fi across the hotel premises, including the room. There were two things I didn't love, both connected to the fact that my room was placed in the new ward across the reception area, restaurant, and hotel bar: first, that there was an outdoor alley to walk from the old building to the new, which didn't provide much of protection from wind and rain (it was raining and quite cold when visiting), and second, that rooms were not perfectly sound-proofed. Apart from these, I believe that it's definitely value for money for a short stay visit to Drama.

As i have written again a hotel is not only about the rooms and(or) the breakfast. It a concept. And on kouros this concept is missing. The design of the hotel is nice, but it need some reinovation as it seems "tired" on the common areas. My room that was located on the old building unfortunately was just above the kitchen and i had the constant noice of the kitchen ventilation system, at least during the operating hours of the restaurant. One think that i hate at hotels are the shower curtains. Come on now.. curtains ? I hate the feeling of the curtain touching my skin while showering. The room i had was facing the mountains and some fields and it was quite ok, i guess the pool view rooms are more noisy. The breakfast was fine but the lack of good quility coffee or the chance to order your favorite coffee with being charged it is something that i didn't like. On my visit i had to stay at the room during the whole morning and what it really ruinnned my day was that the housekeeping ladies arrived at my room asking me if i need anything from them (like towels etc) of cource i need you to clean the room housekeeprs !!! i was surprised when i saw them getting away from my room without even giving me fresh towels or making my bed. But the other stuff of the hotel was smiling and happy to assist you.

This hotel was better than I expected.
The family run establishment does seem to care about the patrons a lot.
While it is not a luxury hotel in any way, they do make an effort. Always polite and with wifi in the rooms, this is probably the best hotel in the Drama vicinity.
I did not get a chance to try the breakfast, but I'm sure it was decent to say the least.

Room Tip: It is a bit away from the city and no restaurants in walking distance. Come here with a car.

I am a little bit suspicious with hotels that are not part of a well known hotel chain. Kouros was a nice surprise. Spatious, luxurious rooms, high quality bedding and furniture, helpful and polite staff.

The breakfast buffet was huge. Dinning in the hotel was also a good experience (I was on half board).

However, the hotel is located a couple of km outside the town, so you certainly need a car (parking is free and there are ample spaces).

A detail: The hotel consists of two buildings. My room was in the new building.
