“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

We stayed day use , 22.august 13, before we vent back to the Maldives. Room was nice and clean. If you have a room out at the wings you have to carry the luagagge.
The Restaurant is to costly compare the service and the quality 1/3 to high!!!
I would go again in the Hotel but not to the restaurant, sorry !

Room Tip: Taxi 15 euro to hotel , then 20euro to the airport. ?? Room are good no problem TV, large bathroom...

Excellent value for money, I would most definitely recommend this one. The hotel is easy to locate from the airport. It is about a 20 minute walk from the sea and fiumicino town. If you have a car you are about 10 minutes drive from Lido de Ostia which is much more lively than Fuimicino and has an excellent beach. The room was excellent. Breakfast was good too. The pool is fantastic - never overly busy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service fantastic. The restaurant on site serves fabulous food although a little expensive.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel a single night after a Mediterranean cruise. I booked the hotel stay based on good reviews and value for money. The hotel has a restaurant and we dined there twice (lunch and dinner). The lunch is a little pricey but there aren't many options in the area if one does not have a car (as far as I could tell). Pizza is only available at dinner so the price drops a little as personal pizzas are eight or nine euros. They do offer a nice list of locally crafted beers as well. The outside seating of the restaurant was lovely and inner pool / courtyard area of the hotel is picturesque compared to the surrounding Fiumicino scenery. I recommend making a reservation to the restaurant as it was full the night be ate there. The lobby can seem a little stuffy (figuratively speaking) but the staff helped us with booking a transfer to the airport and answered some other questions. Overall, a nice airport hotel with a good restaurant.

Having stayed at this hotel previously i was interested to see if the problems with the small elevator had been solved.. My wife and i boarded the elevator and pressed 4, nothing happened. Tried 5- elevator went to 5. however would not stop at 4. Front desk gave us a room on the third floor facing the main highway. We made it to the 3rd floor via the elevator and maintanance man attempting to access the 4th floor. If my wife had not had recent hip and knee replacements I may not have so concerned. Front desk was not sympathetic and made some inane suggestions on routings to access our room. Lobby and pool area are appealling but hotel is located in an out of the way site, with little to do outside the hotel confines. A 3star hotel with a 1 star elevator.

Just returned from truly fabulous four nights.
Firstly to get to the hotel on a budget buy tickets for the Cotral bus in the Tabbachi in arrivals. Cost 1.30 euro. tThe bus stop is on the left as you exit the airport. The bus stops right outside the hotel just tell the driver you want to stop there or press the bell when you see the hotel on your right about 10 minute ride.
The reception area is spotless, calm and stylish and the desk staff are helpful. We had a beautiful superior room with balcony overlooking the pool, Free minibar and safe.It was 38 degrees for the whole of our holiday and the air con was great centrally controlled but perfect.
Breakfast offers a huge choice of pastries, bread, cakes, fressh fruit, juice, eggs, cereal coffee from machine but delicious.
The main purpose of our trip was to visit Ostia Antica (the better Pompeii) allow at least five hours and take plenty of water. if you are into ruins like us there is so much to see and a good gift shop museum and lovely cafe. We also went into Rome and Ostia Lido. All by using local Cotral bus and metro. It really is not possible to walk due to the lack of pathways believe me we did try but navigating the transporrt is not a problem due to the bus stop being so convenient and we spent in total 21 euros!! Tickets can be purchased in the tabbachi a couple of minutes walk to the left of the hotel (there is also a small shop and bar there) or the hotel desk might have a few spare. The hotel does have a shuttle to Rome and the airport,We used this to return to the airport. Taxis can be booked at reception.
Ostia Lido town is a lot bigger than we expected and the beach is typical with lots of paying areas with cabins and bars. There are plenty of shops etc but it is very spread out,
We found the pool and garden area a complete oasis after a day out withh towels supplied.
Did not eat in the restaurant for dinner but the choice on the menu looked good.
The atmosphere is delightful and we spent happy evenings on the balcony sipping beer and prosecco ! Not at all like an airport hotel in the traditional sense, certainly we heard no noise at all of comings and goings and a restful sleep is assured.Comfortable beds, choice of pillows, duvet and crisp cotton sheets.Maid service everyday.
All in all exactly what we wanted. We would certainly return and will look for Golden Tulip hotels in future.

Room Tip: book a superior room superb.

We chose to stay at the Golden Tulip overnight before our long flight home the next day and have to say it was a good choice. It's close proximity to the airport was the main reason but we were pleasantly surprised at the facilities and the staff were welcoming and warm. Our room was a good size, modern and clean and the balcony overlooking the pool area was great. We enjoyed a late afternoon swim in the pool and a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. The beds were comfortable, the hotel was quiet so we were able to get a good night sleep before our long trip home. The free WiFi is a plus as not all hotels offer that (not even five star luxury hotels in the city - which surprised us!!). The only negative was that our room did not have tea/coffee making facilities but because we were only staying one night. it was not really an issue. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Stayed recently at the Golden Tulip during an overnight layover at FCO. If you need a relatively reasonable hotel for one night not far from the airport, then this is a reasonable choice. For what it is, it is typical, neither excellent, nor poor. The A/C is highly questionable.

The van to the hotel is 6 euro round trip charged at the hotel. That price is typical and reasonable so there's no point complaining about it. Meet the van to the right of terminal 3 in parking space 17. It will be there and the spot is well marked. The drive to the hotel was a bit crazy, but the driver was polite and helpful.

The downside for us was that we received a room on the top (fifth) floor in what felt like the attic because the ceiling sloped considerably in places and we had to be careful getting out of bed or bang our heads. The A/C blew air, but did not cool the room. The room remained warm all night regardless of what we did, but we were sufficiently tired to sleep eventually anyway. The sign was in front of our window, so there was no view, but given the location, there was not much to see anyway.

The restaurant at the hotel was fine. Service was fine. the food was actually pleasant so we did not see any point in going hunting for other food. We would not recommend staying here for more than one night, so eating at the hotel should be no big deal.

The staff was pleasant enough and professional, but a small electronic crisis seemed to be beyond them.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the top/fifth floor.
