We did not want our last meal in Italy to be at the hotel restaurant, so we braved the drive into Fiumicino for an authentic meal. The first two places on the list were closed so we went to Mammaro', and we were so glad we did! It is in a totally unassuming location, but the parking is ample and the service was top-notch. My Italian is not very fluent at all but the waiter unexpectedly spoke pretty good English (we didn't think they would in a local restaurant), and between the two of us we communicated well. We told him we were vegetarian but ate fish except not shellfish, and asked him to recommend some dishes which he happily did, and then even told us what else they could make for us without shellfish. When the food came it was phenomenal, and, like pretty much all meals we had in Italy, incredibly reasonably priced. The house red was (according to my husband) amazing. So glad we didn't return the rental car until after dinner! This turned out to be one of the better meals we had here, among a series of excellent meals, and it felt much more homey than any of restaurants in the more touristy areas. Highly recommend!
