Probably in times of United Europe is not politically correct to express some kind of judgment, but after spending a week in this resort I can only say that it is a place made only for the Germans.
The site is sponsored in 3 different languages (English, German and Spanish), however the 90% of the staff only speak German and all activities (including all the brochures they give you) are conducted and written in German. For those who do not play golf , there are not so many possibility of leisure.
The location is great but the environment is little relaxing as everything is very regimented, especially scheduled times for meals: after 9am you can no longer have breakfast and lunch is only served from 12:30 to 13:30.
Lunch and dinner are buffet style, with a selection of monotonous food (especially inspired by the German tradition) . In a country where fish dishes are the stars of the cuisine, they only served grilled panga (never bacalhau!), and there is no trace of regional food but ginger water (Portuguese don't know exactly what it is!)
Regarding services, I recommend you arrange some agreement with a local taxi driver, and call him directly. So you won't wait 30-40 minutes at the front desk and pay an additional E3 fee (applied from the resort , according to the taxi drivers). This way a trip to Tavira will cost you around E12 instead of the E18 if you book through the reception.
I have been told golf courses are undoubtedly good, so if you are planning to go only for this purpose, and have everything included in your fee that's fine.
Another tip: the Club House (the English one near by) is cheaper than the bar in the resort, as well as the golf items (cloths an so on) they sell.

I stayed here for a one week golf trip organised with David Short Golf in March.

The hotel is very efficient with friendly and genuinely helpful staff. The rooms are fine, very clean and everything works - including in my case excellent wifi reception (I had a wifi repeater in the room). There are no baths but the showers are good. All of the food is buffet style which I generally don't like but in this case it was ok. They varied the menu every day and there was always a range of fairly healthy things to choose from, together with as much beer and basic wine as you want. The packed lunch option is very useful given that you are usually out on the course in the middle of the day.

On the downside, it didn't feel very Portuguese. I actually felt like I had been on holiday in Germany given that 90% of the guests are German. However, I knew that when I booked and, as mentioned above, all of the staff were extremely helpful and English speaking.

The golf facilities are very good and well run. The two courses are resort style but very well maintained and have some testing holes, with water and lots of bunkers. The practice facilities are also first rate with a high quality putting area and real turf to hit off on the range. The location is also handy for other courses. I played Benamor (good course, more like an English club course) and Monte Rei (outstanding Nicklaus course) which were both only 10 minutes away.

I was there to play golf so I didn't use many of the hotel facilities. I had a massage but passed on everything else.

So overall a very good week. My course was independent of the hotel (it looked like there were several other courses being run on the same basis, mostly with German participants), but I would also recommend that - David Short Golf.

We had a week at this resort primarily for a golf school. This was a full board break and we thought that the resort was first rate. There were 2 good golf courses attached and the complex facilities were very good. Whilst the eating arrangements were all buffet, the standard was excellent. In addition they had arrangements for guests to make their own packed lunch each day with bags and even cling film provided - amazing....so we could take our food out on to the golf course.

In addition the rooms were of a very high standard being clean, warm and comfortable. We did wonder about a German resort in Portugal but I have to say we would be very keen to go back.

The only drawback is that you would need a car to go to the nearest town - for us that didn't matter as we were worn out after all the golf tuition. The resort is within walking distance to the beach and near a small village.

Strongly recommended.

We stayed at several Robinsons over several years - always because we thought the food was great and healthy and there was an amazing amount of fitness classes and activities. Service and offers got worse and worse everywhere so we decided not to ever go again.
A friend went in May and convinced us to give Quinta da Ria a try. We did and totally regretted it:

- club was overcrowded and staff was completely swamped for dealing with it
- food was (exemptions proving the rule) average tops and not the healthy variety Robinson clubs used to be known for

- guests who bought a bottle of wine were allowed to book tables on the terrace - for the entire evening. We ends up on bar stools next to the buffet area inside several times, because there weren't remotely enough tables for everyone

- as the lagoon is a 15min walk away the whole pool area felt like an overcrowded summer pool as all the families never left the property

- my husband slipped on the property on our way back from the beach where a walk way was under water by the golf course watering system and staff didn't have access to the emergency room ('thats the doctor's room - we can call him, but costs you about 120EUR') - I don't want to go into detail, but there was no support provided; we went back to our room with some plasters an iodine to deal with three quite deep and dirty wounds that night

- staff was not particularly friendly overall (due to them being totally overextended)

- classes were quite reduced in amount which i found weird in high season...

To add something positive the property is in a stunning location and the whole eco approach (which the actual buildings don't reflect ) appreciated, and our room (junior suite) was absolutely beautifully designed.

Room Tip: Problem is that all the junior suites face north - our view included the solar panels: no JS with a...

Stayed here on a golfing trip for the 4th time now and each time has been excellent.
The golf courses at the hotel site are both of Championship standard and in excellent condition, even during the winter months.
The hotel itself is quiet during January but the staff make as bigger effort as they can to make you welcome and entertained. The entertainment is predominantly in German but we were always asked to participate and they always made an effort to translate into English even though the vast majority of guests were German.
Food is excellent with a theme each evening and a great effort to provide a variety of different dishes even though the hotel occupancy was quite low.
Used the indoor pool each morning which was a superb facility and spotlessly clean.
The only thing preventing a 5* is the hotel Wifi which is slow, intermittent in connection and the range didn't seem to extend to where my room was located. Was a very low signal strength anywhere other than the bar.
Overall though a great stay as always and would recommend this as a first choice destination for any golfing group.

Room Tip: If you do need wifi ask for a room near the bar and restaurant area

We stayed 1 week in the club. The nicest thing was the excellent food. The resort is more for active Holidays and Im not a big fan of that. The beach was very far 8 min walk to the lagoon and to be able to cross you need to get lucky and need 15 min more. That was not the best, but we know that before we booked it, so no complain :)
As I don't speak German was a little bit difficult to join the activities, because It is in German. (aerobic, etc) on the reception they speaks English, but would be better to pay more attention to people who does not speak German to be able to have some more fun. The room was ok, nothing special. The Sauna sessions are very good, but don't forget is again German style so people are naked :)))
I recommend the Club anyway :)
