“Perfect for a relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

Just had a few days here early June, so just before the main season starts. Lovely hotel -just what you expect from Iberostar. Right on the beach and promenade. We were half board -loads of cafes nearby for lunch. Plenty of sunbeds, fantastic food. I booked a transfer through the Iberostar website -proved good value compared to a private taxi. Helpful reception staff, planty of staff in the restaurant. A good hotel all round.

We have just returned from a perfect vacation in this hotel. We travelled with our son (2,5 years) and it was very relaxing with a high service level. We chose half board and could not have squeezed more food or drinks in. The restaurant served very varied food in high quality (with a lot of fish including Lobster and tuna). The restaurant is big and 'noisy' but it fit us perfectly with an informal atmosphere. We enjoyed the pool and beach all day. We had a 2 room apartment with garden view, and loved the possibility to have cool drinks and snacks within our reach. There is a supermarket very close to the hotel.

My wife and I stayed around Easter at this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is far from perfect but overall we had a really nice stay. It was very positive that they gave us a room with a side sea view even though I had booked a normal room. We really appreciated this.

The standard of the rooms is excellent and the fact of being able to see the beach while lying in bed was a great plus.

The hotel itself is gorgeous and the outdoor swimming-pool is magnificent. We were lucky to have a couple of sunny days and the possibility to lay down in one of the sunbeds by the pool admiring the great view of the sea. The beach itself is not very nice so I wold not recommend this location for a summer holiday. The beach in Nerja is much nicer.

The reception of the hotel is very elegant and the food is not as bad as I have read in some reviews. I imagine that it might get quite repetitive if you are on full board for several days, but for a short stay i would certainly recommend half board. The breakfast were very nice and dinners were quite ok. I'm not very keen on buffets, but we found enough variety during the three nights we stayed. The quality of the fish and meat was not excellent, but the salad bar was full of delicious options.

Around the hotel, there are many nice places to have lunch, so I would not recommend just eating at the hotel.

The biggest disappointment was the spa, which I would not even call it that. The swimming-pool was tiny and full of screaming children. The water was ice cold even though it stated that the temperature was 28 degrees, which was certainly a big lie. The sauna was nice but difficult to get a place as only one of the two was open. We also missed a Jacuzzi. On the bright side, the girl working in the spa was very friendly and both my wife and I got a very relaxing massage.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a spring-autumn relaxing vacation.

If you just want a really relaxing, lazy holiday then this is a great place to choose. The hotel is large and well furnished and the entrance/reception area is impressive. Our room was large and fine for what we needed without being luxurious. The complex is build in a horse shoe shape looking out to sea, we visited in the Easter half-term and it was just about hot enough to dip a toe in the un-heated pool. We were all inclusive so made use of the three bars and restaurant in which we ate most of our meals. The food choices are what you'd expect from an all inclusive Med hotel, focussed on cured meats, fish and salad. The hot choices were fine but not amazing and there was always a good selection of desserts.

The guests were mostly either families or older people and the resort definitely has that feel. If you're looking for jet skis and clubbing then this is not for you. If you're looking for a relaxing, warm break then it's perfect. The hotel is located right on the beach and we walked down it most days. There's a selection of the usual kind of bars and cafes along the front with some touristy shops but apart from that Torrox itself is very sleepy and quiet. It's worth knowing, that you'll need a car or to get a bus to go anywhere of note really. We were happy with this, we just wanted to sit and sun-bath and read and drink so it served our purposes fine.

At night the area is still quite sleepy, the hotel puts on nightly entertainment which is what you'd expect from a family hotel. Lots of joining in and dancing etc, the flamenco night was good but some nights were a bit cheesy for me. If you're there with a family then you'll be fine, the animation team seemed to be very popular with the kids and were always racing around doing activities and hosting things for them.

So in short it's a great place to stay if you just want to get away from it all and relax with the family. But if you want more excitement from a holiday then you should stick to Malaga down the coast.

I stayed here for 1 week from 13th April with my husband. We were looking for a relaxing holiday to recharge our batteries and that is exactly what we got.
The hotel is spotless and staff are very friendly with nothing being too much bother.
The hotel was not full but there were plenty of us beds and the area was very clean.
We travelled into Nerja a couple of times using the local bus which took only 10 mins.
We will definitely be returning next year

We had a nice stay in Iberostar Malaga back in October 2012, a very well maintained and clean hotel. Room is nicely furnished, spacious & clean and I believe each of them has balcony. We had standard room near the lounge and apparently every night they're having entertainment/show for hotel guests. If you normally sleep after 11PM, this won't be a problem but if you want to rest early after a whole day out visiting places, then this might be an issue. That was the case for us(my wife mainly), and we requested at the reception if we can get another room further back, far from the lounge room. That nite they had no other room available, and they offered us to stay in one of their apartment next to the hotel. The staff kindly asked us to check them out and see if it's to our liking. The apartment located just at the front side of hotel entrance. It's similar room, nicely furnished with kitchen but in the end we decided to stay and wait for a free room the next morning. In the morning the staff informed us that they have a free room, again they asked us to check first. The new room is on 3rd floor, looked nice and bigger, and we assume far from the noises. We decided to take it and they arranged all the Luggage to be brought into the new room. Apparently the new room is a junior suite.

Buffet dinner was pretty good, they have variety of dishes, from basic italian spaghetti, pizza, to lobster, 4 colors caviar, roasted beef and some others. Desserts were abundant, but tend to be quite the same though. Breakfast is also good, lots of choice for every one. Outside of the restaurant, at the front side, there's not so many restaurant, quite similar at the boulevard at the beach, there's some restaurants spread along the beach. One thing though, I had a feeling if you stay longer than a week, they might have similar dishes all over again. On the brightside, staffs are very friendly and helpful. Food is abundant and got refilled regularly.

Hotel pool is clean but not so big, and it seemed enough sun bed but that was in october where the hotel is not fully occupied. To go to the beach, it's pretty close, just walk past the pool then there's back gate that can be opened with your hotel card. At the beach, sun bed available at charge(5Euro/day).

If you come with car, there's a free public parking space next to the hotel. Or you can also park in the basement of the hotel but they'll charge you quite a lot. Similar with Wifi, you'll have to pay.

The hotel itself located at Torrox beach, just abit outside of Torrox small town. Basically, if you want to have a quiet stay just relax by the poolside, this is a suitable hotel. But if you want to do more, it's quite in the middle of nowhere. Of course you can drive to Malaga for 45minutes or to the next big city Nerja for about 10-15 minutes. Nerja quite nice and has more to offer than Torrox. Since the hotel was previously owned by German hotel chain RiuRiu(?), most of the guest are germans and the staffs speak germans beter than english :) All and all, it was a nice stay, would go back again if we stay in that area.

Room Tip: room on the 1st floor near lounge room (which is actually below the lobby level) quite noisy if you...

This is a really well maintained property, thoughtfully laid out, with nice outdoor pool area. staff are great, particularly with kids. generously sized and well-appointed rooms. unfortunately the wi-fi is provided by a third party and so costs extra, also cumbersome to set up and a nightmare to re-establish if something goes wrong. location is good per se, directly on the beach, but the hotel is a bit of a lone gem amidst a development stopped in its tracks by the recent crisis (or so it seems, although to be fair we only stayed a few days). We had a very pleasant stay, warm recommendation with above caveats.
