The majority of the restaurants in Torrox Costa are located on the sea promenade with a steady flow of passing by customers. La Rosa is located on the main road which runs through Torrox Costa maybe two hundred metres north of the promenade (roughly opposite Laguna Beach), so doesn't benefit from so many passers by and therefore has to try harder.
We found La Rosa to be excellent, maybe a little more expensive than others but the dishes were freshly prepared and the quality and service was very good. The dishes have a German and Spanish influence.
There are tables outside at the front in a pretty courtyard and tables inside. Tables both inside and outside were set with white linen tablecloths and linen napkins.
One started with Norwegian smoked salmon with a rosti and horseradish cream €7.90. The quality of the salmon was excellent and much better than in most local restaurants. For mains one ordered Cordon Bleu (pork fillet stuffed with ham and cheese) €12.90 and the other ordered a dish of 2 small pork Wiener schnitzels €11.50. Both dishes were served with homemade fries and individual side salads delicately dressed. With both dishes the ingredients were very good quality and both were delicious.
One of us ordered a dessert of slices of banana with a wedge of fresh pineapple served with a caramelized sauce and ice cream €5.50 - delicious.
We had a good bottle of Ribera del Duero roble red wine €17.90.
The service was relaxed and not rapid but this is because the food is freshly prepared. The lady owner and her chef daughter were friendly and attentive.
